LANDRY
“Eek! I can’t believe you’re getting married!”
Bellamy squealed as she poured another round of margaritas around the table. Two days after our announcement, we decided to have a girl’s night out celebration. It had been over a year since we were all able to drink. I missed Everett a lot, but for the sake of my mental health, I knew I needed to spend time with adults as well.
“I can. I knew it was only a matter of time before Jasper was going to ask you,” Hattie commented.
“You didn’t have any insider information, did you?” I questioned her.
“Oh no, not in that way. I just know my brothers and they are all very quick to snatch things up when they really want them. I mean, look around at the three of you,” she pointed around the table to each one of us, “those guys all fell hook, line, and sinker before they knew what was going on.”
Camila smirked, “Oh, I can attest to that. I don’t know what magic spell is around the Wilkins men, but there is something about their aura’s that are just irresistible.”
“Mmmhmm,” Bellamy and I said in unison.
“Okay, okay,” Hattie covered her ears, “I don’t need to hear how irresistible they are. I already have way too many details. Where did I go wrong with my friends? Why was I cursed with best friends that fell for my brothers?”
Camila puts her hands up, “Don’t look in my direction, I didn’t know any of you and frankly I feel like I’m old enough to be your mama.”
“Oh shut up, Camila. You’re only ten years older than us. You’re like the big sister that none of us got to have.”
I pointed over at Bellamy while I was swallowing my drink, “Now wait a minute, I’m technically older than you. I’m kind of your big sister.”
“That hardly counts. Plus, I had Elsie before you and I got married before you, so when I need advice on things I have to go to Camila.”
“The two of you certainly bicker like sisters, that’s for damn sure,” Hattie mumbled into her drink. “Hey, do you think when Tate finally settles down that he’ll find somebody that fits into our group?”
“Pssh, she better!” I declared.
“Hopefully, if Tate ever settles down, she’ll be a bit older than the three of you. Once again, I love you three to pieces, but man I feel like I need to get some botox and maybe a little nip/tuck to hang with you three.”
“You’re gorgeous, Camila, and don’t you ever doubt that.”
I held up my glass and the other two did as well. Camila smiled and met her glass with our toast and we all drank to the sisterhood that we had formed. We ordered a variety platter of tacos to go with our second pitcher of margaritas. The four of us agreed that this was the final pitcher. I wanted to feel the buzz, but I didn’t want to be so wasted that I wouldn’t be able to function. Plus, Jasper was going to be working in the morning so I would need to be on full Everett duty in the morning and I didn’t want to do that too hungover.
“So, Landry, what are you thinking for wedding plans so far?” Bellamy asked curiously.
“I don’t know yet. I do know that we want to keep it on the smaller side, but probably bigger than what Gruff and Camila had. He wants to start looking at venues ASAP.”
“And you don’t?”
“Oh no, I didn’t mean for it to come out like that, Hattie, I’m just still getting used to the idea of motherhood, planning a wedding feels a bit overwhelming too.”
