Chapter 46

Y/N's POV

What the heck?

"Thunder Breathing, 1st Form: Thunderclap and Flash!"

And thanks to that, I was able to avoid Tanjiro's attack that might have flung me into the air, and god who knows how far. 

I coughed a bit more blood from the impact of the demon I had slash off, and Tanjiro immediately ran over to the pink kimono demon girl's side, saying "Nezuko!"

What is going on?

"Tanjiro-kun, what are you doing with a demon? I assume you know the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps." I said with no emotions.

All the surviving Scouts were approaching me, Tanjiro, and the Nezuko girl, while I continued to stare at Tanjiro.

"This girl is my Imoto, Y/N-san!" 

"Imoto? Well, that explains how you defend her. But what will you do once she eats someone? Are you willing to risk your life for your demonic Imoto, Tanjiro-kun?" I asked, snapping in unison.

He then became silent, with Nezuko grabbing his hand gently, causing Tanjiro to look at her, who nodded.

Tanjiro look over at Nezuko, then looked at me, responding "Hai! I will do whatever it takes to turn Nezuko back into a human!"

I grin at his answer and sheathed my katana.

"Very well, then I shall not kill your Imoto, Tanjiro-kun. Now explain why you are here?"

He nodded, telling me about the situation.

"Oyakata-sama sent multiple Mizuoanto here to kill the demons that were killing people around here, except as you see, they all died from it." He added the end part, clearly sad about it.

He looked at me, and said: "How are you not sad, Y/N-san?"

I sigh, saying "Am I suppose to be sad about this, Tanjiro-kun? I lost way too many people by this point I don't even have feeling pretty much." 

Looking over to the pile of dead people, I walk over to it.

I don't know where I should bury the bodies, so I got on my knees, and clap my hands together, making a praying pose right there.

"May you rest in peace from this cruel world..." 

Tanjiro came over next to me and did the same, with Nezuko looking at us doing it.

I got up and turn around to the Survey Corps.

"Gomenasai, if I got here sooner, fewer people could've died..."

And then I noticed one of my tsuguko in that dead pile.

"Shiki?!..." I whisper shouted, seeing my tsuguko's lifeless eyes. 

Tanjiro whiff the air, and look over at me, seeing that I was near breaking down.

He walked over to me and patted my back, which I finally broke down and cried over Shiki's death.

All the Scouts were stunned by the pile of Demon Slayers that were now dead, protecting them.

I, Tanjiro, and Nezuko stayed in that position for who knows how long, long enough that everyone started to walk back inside the headquarters.

"Shiki hasn't even survived a month after the Final Selection!... What was Oyakata-sama thinking!" I brutally whispered, with Nezuko brushing my hair with her fingers.

Nezuko added some "Mmmm" and "Mhmm!" every once a while if she was agreeing or not. 

I smiled at Nezuko, joking "Are you trying to make me feel better?"

"Mmmm!"

I guess their siblings are really similar.

I look up and saw the sun looked like it was about to raise, so I hurried Nezuko into a shade before the sunlight could even touch her.

Luckily everyone had fallen asleep, but I wasn't so sure where I could hide Nezuko from the sun forever.

Then I thought about the Mess Hall.

"Nezuko, come on!" I whispered to her, and she nodded, grabbing Tanjiro's sleeves, indicating him to come with us.

I lead them to the Mess Hall, with Hange and Levi there, staring at the 3 of us.

It was awkward, with the air so nervous.

"Soooo, another demon to experiment on?" Hange asked, breaking the tension.

I 'tch' and said, "Not every demon is for you to experiment on, Hange."

"Wait, experiment? Is she like Tamayo-san?"

I stared at Tanjiro with his sudden blunt, and he nervously added, explaining "Tamayo-san is a demon doctor who has been experimenting on demon blood to find a cure to turn demons back into a human..."

"Ahhhh, that woman who oto-san hates. I honestly admire her." I said, now understanding who he meant.

Hange was just writing more information about what she heard in my and Tanjiro's conversation, while Nezuko just kept playing around with Levi.

Levi just stared at Nezuko, who was 7 centimeters shorter than him.

I laughed since Levi was staring at Nezuko.

"How old are you even, brat?"

"Mmmmh!"

"She's 14," Tanjiro said, replying for Nezuko since she couldn't talk.

Levi coughed at that and stared at Nezuko in shock.

I giggled, saying "Nezuko, wanna see who can be the tallest?"

"Now what do you mean by-"

"Rule: Don't break the building, got it?" I smirked, with Nezuko's eyes sparkling with completion adding an "MMmmmmm!" along.

Suddenly, I and Nezuko got much, MUCH, taller, that both our heads hit the ceiling of the Mess Hall.

"Dang it, I guess we have to finish this up outside when it's dark again," I muttered, disappointed about the results. 

"Ne, Shorty, I bet you feel jealous that you can't be as tall as them!"

"Shut up, Shitty Glasses!"

I giggled while turning back, listening to their commotion.

Why am I not surprised that they haven't changed at all at that part, where Hange teases Levi about even the smallest stuff.

I glance out, seeing the sun was out, and I knew we were safe for now, besides Nezuko of course.

I walk out, and Nezuko couldn't follow me, which is what I wanted to do.

Before I step into the sunlight, I pat Nezuko, and said "Do tell your brother that I left, alright? I'm quite busy now that I'm back in my occupation as a Hashira again."

"Mmmm!"

I chuckled at her silly childish actions, and step into the sunlight, allowing the rays of heat to hit my face.

"Oi, Y/N-" I heard the others calling me, but they were quite too late to be able to talk to me since I have already snapped my fingers and left to the Moon Estate.
