Cheryl's eyes fill with tears as she looks at the picture of her brother that was hanging in her locker. He was supposed to come back, or even call. But he never did and now he was gone for good.
How was she supposed to get through the rest of high school without him. He was her one and only friend. Nobody else really cared for her, especially now that Jason's gone.
Reaching up, the redhead quickly wipes her eyes before closing her locker. Nobody was allowed to see her cry, especially in this dump.
Making her way toward homeroom, Cheryl is quick to take her usual seat. Glaring at anyone who looks her way.
"Mind if I sit here?" A warm voice asks before the person sits beside her.
Rolling her eyes, Cheryl turns to face Veronica. "I didn't say yes."
"I was sitting down whether you said yes or no." Veronica said with a shrug.
Sighing, Cheryl turns her attention back to her journal. "Whatever."
"You're rude." Veronica said.
Cheryl ignores her, not in the mood for chitchat.
Veronica rolled her eyes.
"Miss Blossom, Principal Weatherbee would like to see you in his office." Their teacher says upon entering the room.
Cheryl sighed and got up. She lifted her bag and left the room. What else could anyone want from her? She walked down the hallway, pulling her bag onto her shoulder.
"Hey Cheryl," Archie calls out from his locker.
"Can't talk, gotta go see Weatherbee." The redhead responds before continuing to walk away.
"Why?" Archie called after her.
Shrugging, Cheryl walks into the office and greets the receptionist before knocking on Weatherbee's door.
"Enter." The principal said.
Taking a deep breath, Cheryl makes her way into his office. "You wanted to see me Principal Weatherbee?"
"I did, take a seat." Weatherbee said.
Cheryl sat down, crossing her legs and looking at him.
"I know it's going to be hard for you right now, since Jason's body was found. If you ever need to leave early just let me know." The principal says, offering her a smile.
"Thanks, but I'm good. I need to get to class." The redhead says instantly.
"Are you sure?" The principal said.
Nodding her head, Cheryl leaves the room and heads toward her class. Praying that at some point Sheriff Kellar will get a lead on who killed her brother. She entered her classroom and sat down. She just wanted to get through today so she could go back home and lay down in Jason's bed. It made her feel close to him still.
"Hey." Archie said, sitting in the empty seat beside her.
Turning to face him, Cheryl forces a smile. "What can I do for you Archie?"
"Nothing." Archie said. "I just said 'hey'." He shrugged, pulling his books from his bag.
The redhead sighs softly as she pulls her books out. "Do you have a red pen?"
"Um, I think so." Archie said, looking through his bag.
"My signature pen is missing." Cheryl mumbles in frustration.
Archie pulled a red pen from his bag. "I knew I had a red pen. Here you go." He held the pen out to Cheryl.
"Thanks." The redhead says, taking the pen and beginning to write down what's on the board.
