Chapter 11: 痛み

Running, that's all you were doing. Not knowing where you were going, just running. For if you didn't run, he would find you, and chain you with him for the rest of your life. You didn't want that, you wanted to be free.

You could hear his footsteps, approaching so swiftly in the darkness of the witching hour. How was he able to see? It's so dark out, you could just barely see your surroundings. Why weren't the street lights on?

"Why are you running?" He yells, eyes red. "We're both mad, mad with loneliness, and yet you run from me." He sounded so betrayed, and you almost want to turn back, but you can't, not when he's still alive.

Kurapika.

Why is he this way? Why had Hanarō turned him this way? He already controlled quite a few, he didn't need anyone else to control. Besides, Kurapika was already so traumatized and hurt, he didn't need anymore trouble.

"I've caught you."

"Kurapika, I think you have work soon don't you?" You ask, shutting off the TV. "I don't know why you insist on saying his name when I'm here." 'Kurapika', inquired, his back facing you. "W-what?" You stammer, scared of what's going to happen.

A sharp smirk forms on the other's face as his eyes slowly turn red. "It's me, Hanarō." He chirps, sauntering closer to your frozen form. You were terrified, the murderer was so close yet so far away. If only you could move.

"It's been a while since we last met right?" He questioned, and takes your silence as an agreement. "You must've been so lonely, knowing that the disgusting bastard is dead." He laughs manically, then randomly appears behind you. "I don't know why you even bother mourning for him when there's me...I was always there, even when Mr. Joestar died." He grasps one of your wrists and put his head on your shoulder, a blank expression appearing on his face.

"Let's go back, back to our home. It'll only take me a few days in the shrine for me to have the elixir of eternity, then you can be immortal like me." He pleads, a look of desperation faintly flashing on his facial features. That's when you snapped, enraged by his selfishness.

"You liar!" You yell, not caring about the others in the building, "I was left all alone before Vidal finally came! You were with that girl Keqing when Mr. Joestar died... You left me alone to cry." Your voice slowly weakened, quivering at the last few words.

"Haha! Maybe I did, but I was stupid back then." He grins even more, eyes almost a pink. "Those artifacts I had collected throughout the years was for you my sweet. Some of them not romantically per se but I still had the thought." He explains, and that's when you dart.

"Oh no you don't darling." He growls, but you don't listen, and run for your life. The hallways soon turned into a blur, and you almost tripped but still manage to keep your stance. You soon came in contact with an elevator and a set of stairs. In a state of panic, you went down the set of stairs, not wanting to risk 'Kurapika' getting in to the elevator.

You descended down the stairs as fast as you could, terrified of tripping and ending your freedom. You still had at least 5 more floors and you heard the footsteps of someone else. You need to go faster, much more faster.

That's when you skip a step and crash down to the floor. Your head pounds with pain and the world spins. No, not now, you need to run. Luckily, your body somehow recovered and you once again went down the stairs.

Although the pace was slower than before, it's better than waiting for him to catch you. You now only have 3 floors left, with him close behind. Your legs were starting to get tired but you still kept going, not risking your chance of not being trapped for once.
