"bella, what the fuck are you doing?", gina asked as the two walked to school. bella stopped and turned to face the girl she had friended over the summer, walking behind her, "looking at the flowers" she smiled. gina smiled and wrapped her arms around the arabella continuing the walk. "your such a weirdo".
the two entered the school immediately heading towards their lockers. as gina and arabella reached their lockers a voice walking behind them boomed "yo, nini! what's good".
"hey" ricky nervously laughed, "hey... can we talk" nini asked. arabella turned to face gina, the two girls could both sense the awkwardness that would come from this conversation.
"i met somebody else at camp. i didn't plan..." from those words alone arabella and gina knew nothing good would happen soon. "wait. wait, is this a joke?" arabella had known all about the couple, she had seen the video nini had made.
over the years arabella had known nini, she grown a small crush on the girl, it soon faded but it was an important crush. her first crush since the caswell boy, as well as her first female crush. arabella had known both ricky and nini, she had most her classes with ricky, tho the two were never really friends, friendly however more or less.
"still talking here." nini snapped at the boy. "oh, snap!" kourtney had spoke to the air, and rolled her eyes at big red. "i met someone at camp. uh, i didn't plan for it to happen, but it happened. he was the music man, i was marian, the librarian. it called a showmance" nini continued.
arabella had been paying attention to the conversation, but trying not to make it seem so obvious. gina looked to girl, with a questioning face, and arabella whispered "ill explain later" gina nodded and the two girls continued to listen.
"please.. tell me you're joking" ricky insisted. "i'm not. come on, ricky. you know what you did! or what you didn't do."nini exclaimed.
"good morning, students. please make your way to the gym for our annual back-to-school kickoff". the principal spoke through the loud speaker.
"i don't believe this. you're blowing me off for some theater punk, you met four weeks ago? at a lake?" ricky said the confusion evident in his voice. "you kinda dumped me!" nini countered. "it was a break. it wasn't a break-up."
"i'm sorry, ricky. but its a break-up now."
"pop off, girl" kourtney cheered for nini, nini was never one for confrontation or even arguments really. "stay out of it, kourtney." "you stay out of it. i'm dismantling the patriarchy this year, and i'm not afraid to start with you." kourtney countered to the ginger boy, and with that both nini and kourtney headed to the gym. gina and bella following slightly behind.

"are you gonna audition for the musical, bella." gina spoke to the girl across from her at the lunch table. "i think i will, not like gabriella or something, something minor." arabella trailed off. "i forgot to ask before but what was that whole thing this morning." gina questioned, arabella was about to explain before she looked up to see nini, with no other than ej caswell. arabella's first best friend and first love.
when ej first started high school at east high, he stopped responding to arabella's, calls, and texts. it went from one week to suddenly three years. arabella had blamed the ending of their friendship on her self. when the first week had gone by, arabella had stayed in her room and only come out to eat, when it turned to two weeks she began to write songs to cope.
bella turned back to gina only to watch ricky grab his backpack and walk out of the cafeteria. and without thinking the girl followed along. grabbing her own bag and followed him. she found ricky sitting on the stairs around the corner. "hey" she said the bag down as joined the boy on the stairs.
"um, hi" he said with confusion, "you left the cafeteria real quickly, i just wanted to know if you were alright" she spoke, while playing with the rings on her hands. ricky smiled at the girl, though they weren't friends he felt happy to know someone was paying attention to him.
"yeah im okay, its just hard seeing nini right know, i don't even know how she moved on already". he trailed off sadly, he didn't know why but he felt safe talking to her on the stairs.
and the two sat on the stairs for a while just talking amongst themselves.
