Karissa POV
14 Hours Earlier
" He can't do that can he?"
I was in my office with my lawyer going over the contract for an aquisition deal that with a rival company.
"I'm afraid he can" He answered while adjusting his jacket " We didn't get his signature on the final transfer documents within the 5 day period so I'm afraid the company is still in his name" He continued
" How did the hell did you not know this would happen" I snapped " You read the contract twice how did you miss that loophole" I ran my hand through my hair in frustration.
"I'm sorry Karissa this is all on me, I guess I got too comfortable thinking this was a done deal" He said shaking his head.
I let out a defeated sigh. "Yeah well this is on me too, I didn't consider the possibility of this happening either."
I would be a terrrible person if I let him take the fall for everything that's happen. We both read the terms of the contract and we thought this would be an easy ride but once again not giving a shit about what's in the fine print came back to bite us in the ass.
By the looks of it there is more to this than just what's written in the contract because I noticed that he was nevously scratching the back of his head.
"What's wrong Wesley?" I asked
"There is something else you should know?" I motioned for him to continue." You see I spoke to my contacts on the board and he said the reason Mr. Singh doesn't want to sell you the company is because he doesn't think a woman can handle it"
To say I was upset will be the understatement of the century.
I was pissed!!
" That sexist son of a bitch" I threw my stapler into one of the wall and it took out big chunk of the wallpaper but I didn't care. I'm more than capable of running the company and he knows that, but he's willing to overlook me because I'm a woman.
I looked at Wes "If we go to court what are the odds that a judge will rule in our favour?" For a second there I was hopeful that maybe we could fight this, but that went out the window when I saw the look on his face.
"Legally it's still his company so we don't have a case"
I ran my hand through my hair for the 100th time this morning."So there's no way around this then?"
" I'm afraid not" He said while putting his papers in his breifcase. I got up from my chair and shook his hand.
"Well we tried thanks for your help Wes" I said as I walked him to the door
" Anytime...I'll be going now"
After he left I went back to my desk. I sat there for a while just thinking about today's events. Tomorrow was suppose to be the day I become the new owner of Kensington Global, after many late nights at the office preparing pitches and making sure everything is in order that sexist jerk decided to screw me over on the final day.
He knew I was a woman when we sat down to have our first meeting , why didn't he say anything then. I threw the papers papers off my desk in frustration.
It's the 20th fucking century and I still feel like I'm living in the dark ages. When will men stop thinking that women can never do anything as good as them. If all humans are equal in God's eyes why does men think that they are the more superior gender and we are just baby making machines that belongs in a kitchen and nowhere else. I could run that company 1000 times better than him and if that scumbag was here I would tell him that to his face. Right after I cut his dick off with my powersaw and feed it to him.
