Congratulations to Us!

It all started the day before Shayne's graduation. He and his classmate named Noah were practicing for the commencement exercise since the morning. After a successful attempt of their batch running through the ceremony without making any mistakes a few hours later, the president of their university entered the school's auditorium.

Every candidate for graduation was asked by the university's president to take their seats.

This left every candidate for graduation feeling either confused or nervous. Since Shayne was sitting behind Noah, he tapped his shoulder. Then, Shayne quietly said to Noah, "I wonder what this announcement's about."

Noah turned around to face Shayne and shrugged his shoulders.

Then, he quietly answered, "Me too." After their short conversation, the university's president started announcing which students from each section of every course per college department graduated with Latin honors. An hour and a half was spent with the announcement of honors.

After that, the university's president left the auditorium.

Every candidate for graduation was then asked to run through the ceremony again before allowing them to be dismissed afterward.

Once they called it a day, every candidate for graduation changed clothes and started leaving the university's premises for the day.

When Noah and Shayne finished changing, both of them walked together. As they were leaving the campus, Noah asked Shayne, "Shayne, you got any plans later today?"

Shayne shook his head.

Then, he asked, "Why?" Noah asked back, "Wanna grab some snacks at Subway, maybe?" Shayne felt confused, but replied, "Sure."

So, Noah ordered a Lyft for he and Shayne.

When the driver arrived a few minutes later, Noah and Shayne got in the cab. Afterwards, Shayne asked the driver to pull them over to the nearest Subway. As they arrived, Noah paid the driver before both of them got off.

After Noah and Shayne entered Subway, both of them proceeded to order.

Noah was about to pay for their orders, until Shayne offered, "This one's on me. That Lyft was kinda expensive, Noah." Noah smiled at Shayne. Once Shayne paid for the subs that they ordered, they looked for empty tables. When they found one, both of them sat on the chairs provided at the table.

A few minutes pass, and the subs that they ordered arrived.

Before they started eating, Shayne asked Noah, "So, why'd you decide to take me here at Subway today, Noah?" Noah didn't answer, but smiled at Shayne and held his hand instead.

Shayne started blushing profusely.

Noah then said, "Shayne... You know I've loved you since our sophomore year in college." Shayne chuckled softly and replied, "I know, Noah." Noah let go of the hand he held from Shayne and continued, "This is just my way of celebrating good shit. We're both graduating cum laude, dude!"

Shayne smiled and nodded.

Then, he said, "I deadass thought my grades weren't gonna cut it. I mean, I feel like I half-ass the shit I do in our classes. But hey, I'm graduating with Latin honors!" Noah told him, "Oh, Shayne... Your efforts are always enough."

After that, Noah bumped fists with Shayne.

Then, both of them grabbed their subs and said, "These are for us. I'm so happy that we're graduating together." Shayne nodded in agreement. They started eating their subs shortly after.

When they finished eating, both of them left Subway.

While walking on the sidewalk, Shayne put his right arm over Noah's shoulders and said, "This was such a great date, Noah." Noah kissed Shayne's cheek. Then, Noah asked, "Um, Shayne... Could I tell you something?"

Shayne nodded.

Noah wrapped his left arm around Shayne's waist and said, "I know it's been a while since we had feelings for each other. And, I want you to know that my parents and brothers really like you." Shayne kissed Noah's forehead and asked, "Oh, they do?"

Noah chuckled softly.

Then, Noah pulled away from Shayne. After that, he held his hands and asked, "Shayne, will you be my boyfriend?" Shayne hugged Noah tightly and said, "Noah, I'd love to." After that, Shayne kissed Noah's lips.

Both of them continued walking their way to their houses after that.

As they were nearing their houses, Noah kissed Shayne's lips and said, "I love you, babe." Shayne replied, "Love you too, babe." Noah and Shayne said their goodbyes to each other before going back to their houses.

A few weeks pass, and the university where Noah and Shayne studied in for college held its commencement exercises.

Noah and Shayne introduced each other to their respective extended families, and they were showered with acceptance and love.
