"You're not still stressing about the exam results again, are you?" Takeru found Kiyomi looking out to the opened view of the landscape on the school roof. It was a peaceful area where they went to school as it was situated in a suburb area near the countryside. Most of the cherry trees have already reached full bloom creating a layer of pink clouds above the ground.
I'm going to miss living here.
"Aissh! Stop worrying! You always get the highest marks in class Kiki and any university would welcome you with open arms." He sprung to her side as the gentle breeze blew through his shaggy black hair. He saw her emotionless face unchanged as she gazed at the beautiful view. Takeru knew there was something bothering her after spending most of his school like with her by his side, she should have back-chatted him or lightly hit him in annoyance by now.
"Kiki?"
I'm going to miss you.
"Watashi (I)..." She began hesitantly, turning to face him. She didn't know how to tell him, especially him. They've known each other since elementary school and now that their graduation for the end of high school was just two days away, she didn't know what to do. When did she start to fall for him? Was it when he introduced himself to her and asked if they could be friends? Was it the first time he waited for her to finish class so he could walk her home? Maybe it was many things." Takeru, Watashi (I)...Watashi wa-" just then their closest friend, Aya, ran up the stairs screaming for her.
"Kiki! Have you seen Tak-Oh! Takeru, the guys want to know if their basketball game is still going on tonight?" Kiyomi turned back to face the landscape. He looked back at Kiyomi since she was about to tell him something but judging by her silence and her not looking at him anymore, he towered behind her and whispered in her ear-sending a chill down her spine.
"I'll be back, so tell me then okay?" and with that he ran off. Aya, who was keeping a close eye on them, finally stood next to Kiyomi with a small bounce of her short black bob.
"I'm guessing you still haven't told him yet?" she asked quietly still being cautious that he might be able to hear them. Kiyomi shook her head. "Well, you better hurry up before some other girl snags him again." Aya first found out about Kiyomi's feelings for their handsome friend when she realised Kiyomi became very distance with Takeru a few days after he started going out with a girl during their last year in middle school. To Aya, it was obvious but to the people surround their everyday lives, it was nothing.
Is there a point for me to confess?
Kiyomi's time in Japan was getting shorter and shorter, and she still hasn't told her two best friend about her leaving the country in just two days. Since she was alone with Aya, now was a good time.
"I'm leaving Japan after our graduation," she confessed, still looking away from Aya.
"Why? Is it the money problem again? I'm sure if I explain to my otosan (father) about your family situation, he won't-"
"No, Aya. It's not just the mortgage problem anymore...I-I'm being taken to live in London."
"London? Kiki I know you're basic english is very good as you always get high marks in all our tests and even the exams, but living there is different from just speaking to tourists visiting japan. How are you two going to afford the plane tickets? Have you got a plac-"
"I'm going over alone, Aya. I don't think I'll be coming back." Kiyomi's voice turned into a mumble as her body started shivering in fear and sadness.
~
By the time Takeru got back to the roof, the bell - for the end of lunch - had ran and so they headed back to class. He sense there was a sudden change of mood between the girls but decide not to ask, incase it was a 'girls' problem, and carried on walking. It also made him forget about asking Kiyomi what she wanted to tell him.
