"THE YEAR'S ALREADY OVER?" you said in a monotone voice, more to yourself than to hirai. she hummed beside you, kicking her legs that hung off the edge of the bench. cupped between her hands was a half-drunken slushy, which she was forcing herself to drink even though summer was well over. she wanted to 'preserve the feeling.'

"oh no, were done totally for," she groaned, slouching down to your level. "we have to go to college and be adults. fuck that," she seethed, though her gentle manner was still intact, which made you chuckle.

"you don't have to go to college," you said, trying to calm her nerves. "i don't know about the adulting thing either..."

"seriously, i don't know what to—"

"guys come on! break is over!!" you heard shishido, your roommate, call out, waving you guys over.

you and hirai got up, hirai staying a few steps behind so she could have more time to finish her slushie while you jogged up to shishido.

she was a fairly tall, slim girl with tan skin. she had short and layered wavy white hair that went a little bit over her shoulders.

"so, are you moving back in with your parents?" she asked and turned to you with her striking red eyes, scanning the look on your face and smiling. her lip ring shined in the flash of obscure sunlight.

there were only a few more days left to the semester and graduation was right around the corner, so you guys had to start packing up the things in your dorms. it was a saturday and the girls were using up this day to get as much done as possible.

"eh, i'd rather not," you admitted truthfully, shrugging. "i've already stayed on my own for this long, so i might as well continue. the hard part is finding a place though," you said.

shishido nodded understandingly, "i know i won't be moving back with my folks," she snorted, rolling her eyes. you laughed, knowing her relationship with her parents wasn't too good.

she filled you in on some of your options and helped you to decide your next step, saving you from a lot of thinking. you always knew shishido was a mature woman, but her advice exceeded your expectations.

you heard hirai call out to you, running full speed towards you after throwing her cup in the trash. she held onto your shoulder, breathing heavily, "agh! brain freeze!" she cried, squeezing her eyes shut and holding her head in her hands.

shishido laughed at her, hirai scolding her for 'finding joy in her pain,' which caused you to laugh as well.

hirai had to go to her own dorm to clean up with her roommate, so you and shishido spent the next few hours taking things down and putting them in boxes.

once you came across your journal, you stared at it for a while before picking it up and flipping through the pages. you cringed at all the things you'd geek over, but also smiled at the memories. it was only when you reached a certain page that your expression died down.

skelly.

you read over the contents of the page, growing maudlin over the words you wrote down that day. remembering how happy you were; how amazed you were at what tendou was able to create and how absolutely elated you felt being able to be his canvas.

but those feelings of nostalgia abated as the person who was responsible for them came to mind. these drawings, doodles, or temporary tattoos were something you greatly cherished... to such a degree that you surprised yourself.

things are different now though. a lot more different. sure, tendou still draws on you from time to time, but not nearly as frequent as he used to. his drawings got darker, more gloomy and full of emotion, rather than the simple doodles of anything that came to mind.

for the last few months of school, his attendance got inconsistent. he'd be here one day, and gone the next. when he was here, your conversations would be so quick that you never got the chance to bring it up, nor the courage to ask what was going on.

and now you were here, approximately 6 days away from graduation day, and you hadn't seen tendou in more than a week. the hopeful part of you thought he simply got tired of being in class again, decided to play hooky more than only once a week...

but you knew that was true, because he would've told you, right? he would've invited you... right? yeah, he would've, you thought. so you concluded that that wasn't the cas
