"YOU WANNA SEE THE SKETCH NOW?" tendou asked, his head gesturing toward the sketchbook he was waving in the air.
"nah, 'cause i came here just for fun," you said sarcastically, tendou smiling slightly at your tone.
"i wouldn't be surprised if you did," he said, bringing the sketchbook down and beginning to hand it to you. "missed me that much, huh?"
scoffing, you were able to snatch the wavering book away from him before he could move it out of your reach again. "shut up..." you said impassively, trailing off.
as you studied the sketch before you, tendou looked around the room... as if he didn't see it enough to know every single material that made up the room like the black chalkboard material of the walls and the smoky tiled floors or the ceiling lined with wooden beams, one of which held the centered light fixture that edged just between fancy and industrial.
everything in the room seemed to look like a jumble of things from the initial viewpoint, but the longer a person is in there, the more they notice.
they notice things like the greenery the lined up potted plants add to the room while sitting on top of the cupboards, their vines hanging onto the wooden doors. and the numerous neon-colored sticky notes carelessly plastered onto the walls with little notes on who-knows-what. and the chalked-on sketches of tattoo ideas on the walls that filled the empty spaces.
this room was so personalized and lived-in that it felt intrusive to be in there, or as if it shouldn't be in a tattoo parlor at all.
though as you looked at the sketch before you, everything around you became a big blur. the air changed when you began to register just what you were looking at. it dawned on you that this was a sketch of what your tattoo could look like.
it was only then that your features were overcome with awe and you felt as if for the first time in your life, someone else put your thoughts onto paper and captured it perfectly.
instead of a snake, tendou opted for a fire dragon (a literal flaming dragon) drawn in yellow, orange, and red coloring. the dragon was wrapped around a steel sword and had a trail of burnt and scorched roses around it.
what really tied it all together was that the dragon and it's trail of fire was the only thing that was in color save the the very subtle, bright red lining of the burning roses. everything else was in normal grayish-black.
the redhead across from you sat awkwardly—his posture terrible yet graceful as always—and tried to keep calm. but when your speechlessness stretched so long, he got jittery and snuck a peek at your face.
he couldn't help the deep blush that began to creep its way up his cheeks from the tips of his ear. just one look at the way your eyes shone so brightly and another at your parted lips was sufficient to cause a smile to tug at at his lips.
he's seen this look plenty of times before. but from you...
it meant the world.
just looking at this sketch caused a feeling of intoxication to take over your body. you couldn't imagine what this would look like on your body.
"this..." you uttered, still not quite able to find words to describe your current state of feeling. you'd never be able to.
"you don't like it...?" tendou asked. he knew you loved it. he knew. he saw.
"no, it's not that. i mean, how could i not? this is—" you paused again. "you're so talented tendou. i'm so proud, thank you," you smiled.
and he returned your smile. it was the brightest smile you'd ever been able to pull out of him but you did it. he took the compliment as if it was his first ever. as if he didn't know he was a fucking god at this.
because it came from you.
"you're getting really good with the flattery, angelface. and that says a lot 'cause you were already great at it," he quipped.
"shut up, i'm being serious! i love this," you said. "earnestly."
tendou stood up and wrapped his arms around you, "thank you, love. means a lot to me."
you stood up and positioned your hands at his waist, your head on his chest. he smelled like sunlight—bright, hot sunlight—and cocoa with a sweet undertone. like... brown sugar.
"now that i know you like my tattoo design more than you like me," tendou started, countenance still beaming, "do you wanna get it done today? or set yet another appointment?"
"i can get it done today?" you asked, your voice high-pitched and full of hope.
"yeah! it's an early tuesday morning so i don't expect many people to come in today. even if we'd be busy, there are more workers coming in later."
"aww, i really am your favorite customer," you boasted, head held high.
tendou wrinkled his nose at you, "oh, just shut up and strip, why don't you."
"strip??" you whipped your head around, causing tendou to let out a snort.
"well you don't expect me to be able to do this tattoo with all those clothes on, do you?"
