The Rap Devil moved in close so that his height advantage was even more apparent. He didn't care about stepping on the candescent surface. He slung the shovel over one shoulder and began his wicked rhyme. The words flowed with ease as each bar effortlessly connected to the next. He mostly rhymed about the other man's old age and the fact that he can't seem to appreciate his own success. The first round felt perfect as he lyrically stuck, moved, and jabbed. Everything about it felt–nice.

When the Rap Devil finished, he turned the shovel earthward and bit into the soil as a punctuation. The unwavering Bitch barely moved the entire time. He uncrossed his arms and pulled his hoodie back over his head. The glow did very little to highlight a face now shrouded in darkness.

The words from the Bitch came with a cadence that was all too familiar to his one-man audience. His rhymes sounded carefully prepared. Even his rebuttals came across as if they were thoroughly rehearsed. He bobbed his head and moved to the rhythm of his own voice, but the punchlines didn't have the kind of punch the Rap Devil expected.

A wide smile graced the face of the younger man as he paced in front of his adversary. He knew that he had won this round. Then he began to wonder. Who's judging this? There was no way both of them would agree on a winner if a round was close. After the Bitch spit his last bar, he sat down on the stump. Before the Rap Devil could ask the burning question, something started happening.

The jade-colored glow on which they stood gathered itself in a cluster that slowly brightened. It moved in the direction of the Rap Devil, who reflexively backed away. When he realized what he was witnessing, he stopped. The brightness of the glow made it difficult to see the Bitch or the trees surrounding him. A closer look revealed that the light appeared to be coming from a layer just below the ground, giving the soil and earth a translucent appearance. A low-pitched hum filled the air around him. Is the Bitch clapping over there?
