Yibo is being driven mad by Xiao Zhan's hand in his short, short hair. It's a stimulating experience that he had not expected. Their lips refuse to come apart even for breath and by the time they find themselves on Xiao Zhan's immaculately made bed, they're both panting.
"What do you want, Zhan-ge?" Yibo pulls the older man on top of him, his hands undressing him hastily.
"Fuck me." Xiao Zhan blurts out. "I mean, unless you want to-"
"I have been dying to fuck you since the day I saw you." Yibo grins as he takes off his shirt. Xiao Zhan is temporarily distracted by Yibo's abs.
"Wait, what?" He shakes his head. "No, you didn't! You first saw me on Day Day Up!"
"And?" Yibo raises an eyebrow.
"The last time we met, you said it was at the table read!" Xiao Zhan leans over Yibo.
"Suibian, ge, I think I've loved you forever." He crushes Xiao Zhan's lips against his own.
"Yibo," Xiao Zhan pushes him away slightly. "Do you mean that?"
"I don't say things that I don't mean." Yibo is softly biting the skin around Xiao Zhan's collarbone, sure to leave marks.
"I love you, too." Xiao Zhan says as earnestly as he can. "I really do."
Yibo's smile could light up the night sky as he rolls over in a swift move, straddling Xiao Zhan and pushing him onto the bed.
Finally undressed, Yibo takes Xiao Zhan's semi-hard cock in his mouth, moaning as he feels its heat. Xiao Zhan, already getting delirious with pleasure, hands him a bottle of lube and a pack of condoms from his bedside table. Yibo puts some of the lube on his fingers, gently opening up the man writhing below him. He takes turns touching Xiao Zhan with his mouth, his fingers, his hands, until Xiao Zhan is begging to be fucked. Yibo is so hard, he thinks he might come as soon as he enters the man.
Slowly, trying to compose himself, he lines himself up against Xiao Zhan and slowly pushes into him. Xiao Zhan gasps as he feels Yibo twitching inside him. Yibo leans down and takes his mouth in his, as he starts moving, maddeningly slow at first. When Xiao Zhan starts to move against him, Yibo can't help but start fucking him hard. It doesn't take long for Xiao Zhan to slip over the edge, Yibo following him soon after, caught up in the shudders of Xiao Zhan's orgasm.
The next few weeks are both exhilarating and agonizing. Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan are both busy shooting on location but they discover the thrill of video-calling and well... Let's just say they're spent when they reach the set the next morning, after a particularly spirited video call. Which is the only thing that keeps Yibo going, the joy of their secret, making him feel warm and safe, even as he juggles all his commitments.
But all good things must come to an end, it would seem. Xiao Zhan is excited to have some free time to watch Yibo's VLive from the sets of 'Being a Hero'. He hasn't seen him in person for nearly two weeks and even just seeing him being brusque to his own fans, makes him laugh and miss his didi. His attention is so completely on Yibo that he only realizes that something is wrong when Yibo's mouth begins to twitch, not into his usual smirk but like he has a sour taste in his mouth. Xiao Zhan skims through the comments to see if he missed something. There, amongst innocuous declarations of love, a certain group of anti-fans is deriding Yibo for his silence on the "227 Incident." Xiao Zhan's fingers clench as he grips his phone in anger. Would his stupid choices ever stop following them? Yibo wouldn't ever say it but Xiao Zhan really had taken away Yibo's autonomy and gotten him embroiled in this whole mess, without him ever having said or done anything.
As he is called back to set, he quickly shoots an "I love you" text to Yibo along with a gif of Taylor Swift singing "Shake It Off." But he knows it's not enough.
The next day is Xiao Zhan's last day on set before he goes back to his Beijing apartment for a week's rest. Yibo would be coming in from Yunnan to join him in a few days. As part of promotional activities, Xiao Zhan and his co-stars are invited to play a Q&A game on VLive. The questions start off innocent enough but soon, Xiao Zhan begins to notice a deluge of anti-fan comments trained against one Wang-laoshi. In the middle of answering a question about Jianguo's favourite games, Xiao Zhan finds himself turning red over a comment that simply says "Wang Yibo did 227".
"That is a complete lie," he starts, and he cannot bring himself to stop. "Wang Yibo had nothing to do with the incident. We have all apologized and moved on from it. Let us not involve innocent people into this matter."
The interviewer seems delighted with this messy turn of events. She had assumed that Wang Yibo was off-limits as he had been in Xiao Zhan's interviews since last February.
"So, why do you think Wang-laoshi did not make a statement in this matter?" She asks, going straight for the jugular. "Didn't you expect him to defend you, as your good friend?"
"Wang Yibo is more than a good friend to me. He is my lifelong confidant, and I trust him completely. I was the one who asked him to stay mum on the matter. Had I known that it would turn out this way, I would have never done anything of the sort." He all but snaps.
He could see Liu Mei Fang mouthing 'cut' on the sidelines, as the live interview moves its focus to the other cast members giving Xiao Zhan the chance to calm himself down. He only resurfaced to thank the interviewer and walked off set as soon as the live ended.
"Laoban!" Mei Fang grabs his arm and marches him into his trailer. "What the fuck!"
"I'm sorry." He bows his head. "But I don't regret it. This anti-fan bullshit is starting to get too much-"
"I do not care about that shit." Mei Fang tries hard not to screech. "You just called Wang Yibo your lifelong confidant on a live stream. Guess who else were lifelong confidants, laoban?"
His eyes widen as he remembers having said something similar to Yibo, no, to Lan Zhan, as Wei Ying, a long time ago. "Fuck."
Wang Yibo has been shooting back-to-back action scenes, and he is beyond tired when retires to his room for the night. Once he is back, Ling-jie calls him, gently explaining what had happened during Xiao Zhan's live. He all but brushes off Ling-jie's assurances that he need not worry, that these things tend to resolve themselves. He knows he should care more about this but all he wants to do is talk to Zhan-ge before the older man wallows in misery and makes some insanely stupid choices.
His hands are trembling as he video-calls Xiao Zhan, biting his lip in anticipation. I hope he's okay, I hope he's okay, I hope he's okay, he can't help but worry.
"Wang Yibo!" Xiao Zhan accepts the call and the way he smiles at Yibo makes his chest feel a little less tight.
"Are you okay?" They both say, almost in unison.
"Of course I'm okay!" Yibo bristles. "I do not give a fuck. Except about you."
"Oh, yeah?" Xiao Zhan's smile is almost teasing now. "Neither do I."
They stare at each other for a second and burst into laughter.
They finally settle down into bed, after renewed declarations of love, stumbling over each other's words to ask 'will you be my boyfriend?", and fighting over who asked first. When Xiao Zhan falls asleep that night, with Yibo's faint snores audible through the phone, it's almost as if he's sleeping on a cloud, finally able to let it all go.
The next day, BJYX believers around the world share a collective gasp, clutching their pearls as Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo post the same selfie, with the same caption on Weibo. The picture shows Wang Yibo smiling wide into the camera, with his nose slightly crinkled, and his arm around a laughing Xiao Zhan. The caption reads "Lifelong Confidants 🐇🐇".
