"Ashton wants to take me to the fair and he wants to have a double date, will you and Luke come?" Cassandra asked me over the phone.
"Duh!" I told her, like what friend wouldn't want to go on a double date with her best friends as a couple. It's a dream.
"See you there then," she hung up.
I changed from my sweats to some jeans and put on a Ramones' shirt. I drove to Ashtons house where he would take us all together.
"Hey babe, hey Ashton, hey Cassie," I told them when I entered Ashton's house. I was clearly the last one because the Violet rolls that way.
"Hey princess," Luke said approaching me and pulling me into a hug then he kissed me on the top of my head.
"Hey Violet," Cassandra and Ashton said in unison.
We all piled into Ashton's car. Of course, we had the radio on because there's no Violet road trip without music. Ashton put on the local rock station. And yes, we did sing and air guitar like a car full of weird punk rock monkeys. Every song until we got the the fair.
We walked around the fair before we went on the rides. At some point, Ashton awkwardly grabbed Cassandra's hand so the held hands as they walked. Me and Luke walked with our arms linked like in the olden days because we were that odd couple.
When the song Chloe by Emblem 3 came on the loudspeakers at the fairgrounds we screamed "CHLOEEE!" Again like idiots. We danced around, again we are Idiots. After a long time of Cassandra and Ashton looking at us like mental patients we started to walk. We saw bumper cars and me and Luke ran and waited in line. Cassandra and Ashton walked slowly and talked seriously. Stiffs!
"Lighten up!" I yelled at them. Cassandra rolled her eyes and Ashton made me talk to his hand.
"Next!" The attendant at the cars said and we quickly ran to get in the car. Luke got a black one, I got a blue one, Ashton got a red one, and Cassandra got a purple one. The light flashed green for us to proceed. We started the car and immediately me and Luke went after each other. Luke's long legs made his look like he was in a child car. I, on the other hand, was really short and felt small in the car. I looked over to Cassandra and she was frowning in a sad and pitiful way.
"Aye Cassandra-" I was gonna tell her to be happy when I got slammed in the side of my car by Luke.
"Luke!" I yelled and I slammed my cart into his and we bursted into laughter.
"Don't worry, be happy!" I sang to Cassandra driving past her. She smiled for a second then drove away from me.
When that ended, I saw one of those rides that takes you up to the top of it and drops you quickly. We all waited in line. After about 10 minutes, it was our turn. As we enter me and Luke said our "final goodbyes" (acting like we were gonna die because we are over-reacting). Cassandra muttered under her breath and Ashton kept a smile but he knew Cassandra showed no interest in him. As we strapped in, Luke grabbed my hand and told me he loved me and I squealed and said it back. We went up, and then down, clearly, and I screamed and so did Cassandra because we are girls.
"That ride was intense, erm, I need to use the bathroom, and uh, so does Violet," Cassandra said and pulled me away from the group toward the porta potties.
"I've been texting Calum," she confessed.
"Cassandra! That's low," I said angrily.
"I know, I'm sorry," she said, "he wants to meet me. I have to go."
"Absolutely not!" I yelled and crossed my arms.
"I'm sorry but I have to," she said looking down and kicking up some dust getting her shoes dusty.
"Ashton will be devastated," I told her, looking her straight in the eye. She avoided my gaze.
"Don't tell him," she said her voice cracking.
"Cass-" I started but she interrupted me.
"Violet, I'll tell him but not now. Trust me," she insisted. I threw my hands up.
"How can I trust you when you've been texting Calum this whole time?" I asked.
"I'm gonna be late," she said walking away.
"Cassandra!" I yelled after her but she didn't turn.
I walked over to Ashton and I told him she had a family emergency. I felt bad, this was the worst feeling I've ever had. I choked back tears when I saw his smile fade. He said that he didn't want to be a third wheel so he was gonna go to McDonald's while we finish up our time and to text us when we wanted a ride home. We said okay and he left. We rode a few rides before we rode our final ride, the Ferris wheel.
Once we reached the top, the ride stopped. I put my head on lukes shoulder.
"Violet, when we get older I'm gonna marry you, ok?" He said and I smiled.
"Okay, Hemmings , you can marry me," I chuckled.
"Sweet!" He said.
"Dork," I giggled.
"Am not!" He defended.
"If your gonna be my husband, you're gonna have to admit you're a dork," I told him.
"Okay, princess, I'm a dork. The biggest dork of them all," he said and I kissed him.
"I love you, Luke," I said.
"I love you too Violet," he said.
