Becca had a growing interest for gymnastics. After she went with Jamie to her gymnastics class, she wanted to take part in it as well. Bucky signed her up, of course. He could see the desire to learn in his daughter's eyes, plus he really could never say no to Becca. He was her world.
It's been a month of her doing gymnastics and she's loved it. Every time you came over, she'd show you her tumbles and growing flexibility. You could see the proud glint in Bucky's eyes every time she improved on a new skill.
"Y/N, can you come with me to my next class? I wanna show you how good I am!"
You chuckled at the twelve year old's excitement, "Sure, Bec. When's your next class?"
"6pm on Wednesday."
You mentally went through your work scheduled and smiled, "Great! I happen to be free that day!"
"Yay! I can't wait to show you everything! There's a foam pit that we get to go in for free time. Miss May says we're starting to learn flips, but I already know how to do one," she said with a proud smirk.
You smiled back at the young girl, "Can't wait to see you in your element, Becca."
Wednesday was here and you, Bucky, and Becca walked into the gym, Becca in-between you and Bucky, excitedly jumping. She was already dressed in her leotard. Her brunette hair up in a tight bun.
"Becca!" Jamie's high pitched voice rang through the gym lobby. She ran over to her cousin and hugged her. When the two broke apart, Jamie waved at you and Bucky, "Hi Uncle Bucky! Hi Y/N! Look!" she held up a fake gold medal that hung around her neck, "I got a gold medal for best tumble!"
You knelt down to be eye level with little Jamie, "That's amazing, sweetheart! You're on your way to be a true Olympian now!"
"Holy hell!" your head shot up at the sound of someone yelling. You stand up and eyes meet all too familiar blue ones.
"Tucker," you sneered. Your clear distaste for the man seemed to amuse him as a big smirk appeared on his face and he sauntered over to you.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Y/N L/N it's good to see you." Lance Tucker, gold medal Olympian stood before you, donning a red, white, and blue tracksuit, sunglasses hanging from the collar of his shirt.
"Wish I could say the same about you, Tucker. Now," you crossed your arms over your chest, "What're you doing here?"
"Scouting. What about you? One of these rugrats yours?" he gestures to Jamie and Becca who both frown at the term thrown their way.
"No. Becca is Bucky's daughter and Jamie is Peggy's daughter," You point to each child and their respective parent.
"So why're you here, then? Heard the Tuck was in town and wanted a little taste of nostalgia?"
"Sorry, how do you two know each other?" Peggy asked with an evident look of repulsion on her face.
"We, unfortunately, dated a long time ago. A waste of my time, honestly." your eyes narrowed at the man.
Lance stepped forward, hand on your hip, "C'mon, baby, we had some good times."
That was when Bucky decided to step in. He pushed Lance's hand off you and stood in-between the two of you, "Alright. I'd appreciate it if you kept your hands off my girlfriend!"
Lance stumbled back in surprise and then guffawed, "Girl-Girlfriend? She's your girlfriend?!" he clutched his stomach as he laughed, "Oh that is hilarious!" he turned his head towards you, "You're seriously dating this dough boy, Y/N? I never thought you'd downgrade so much!"
You moved to give him a talking to, but Becca stepped in, "Hey! That's my dad you're talking about! And he's so much better than your bastard ass!"
"Becca!" you, Bucky, and Peggy cried out in surprise and in a scolding tone. Jamie just simply giggled because her cousin said bad words.
Every one of you glared at Lance, who seemed like he was having the time of his life right now. Becca's right. He is a bastard ass.
You pulled Becca towards you, "C'mon, Bec, your class is starting soon." you shot one last dirty look at Lance before guiding Becca into the gym, your voice carrying off as you told her that cussing isn't allowed, even if what she said was true.
Peggy glared one last time at Lance before hugging Bucky and saying her good-byes, Jamie following suit.
That left Lance and Bucky alone.
Lance stood there looking as confident and douchey as he could be. His eyes wandering up and down Bucky, sizing him up. He shook his head, "Can't believe she's settling with the likes of you, dough boy. I mean-" he laughs, "You're just-"
"I'd like to inform you that I'm a Sergeant at NYPD. I've been working as a cop for years. I know how to hide a body so well that no one would be able to find you until you're all bones. Sure, Y/N downgraded. I know, but I think personality wise, she hit the jackpot with me 'cause, buddy, you reek of grade A asshole."
Lance scoffed, "Please, a beauty like Y/N doesn't deserve to be with someone like you, pal."
"Oh, I know. Trust me, I'm well aware of that. And I'm fucking grateful to wake up every day with her in my arms knowing that she loves me for who I am. In a way, I'm kinda grateful that she had to deal with your shit, 'cause if it weren't for you, we wouldn't be together. So thanks," Bucky puts a hand on Lance's shoulder, "pal."
"I've done shit I regret, yeah, but hurting Y/N was one of the worst things I've ever done! And now that I see her here with you, I think I have a chance of getting her back." Lance straightens up, his face gleaming with mischief and cockiness.
"Highly unlikely, Tucker," you say as you march over to the two, your hand slipping into Bucky's, "I love Bucky and he's the best thing that's ever happened to me. You ain't got jack shit compared to him and that includes the sex," you say with a smirk.
Lance scoffed, eyeing your hand intertwined with Bucky's, "Fine. Whatever. But once you get tired of dough boy or he dies of some sorta heart attack, don't come crying back to me!" he pulls his sunglasses off his shirt and sticks them onto his face as he marches out of the lobby and out the glass doors of the gym.
Once he was gone, you and Bucky let out a breath of relief, "Geez," you rubbed your forehead, "Still can't believe I dated him for two years. Two. Years!" you rest your head against his arm, "I'm sorry about him and whatever shit he said to you while I went with Becca."
"It's really okay, sugar."
"No, it's not. Bucky-"
"Hey," he moved so that he stood in front of you, his hands cupping your face, "Because of you, I've learned to not care about what other people think of me or say to me or say about me. Because of you, I've grown to love my dough boy self. And I'm thankful that you suffered through that relationship with him because it lead you to me. It sucks what you've been through, what both of us have been through. But, I think that it was meant to bring us together."
"I love you, Sarge."
"I love you too, sugar, even when you got a lil' bit of bitterness to ya," he says with a chuckle.
"Ugh. That man brings it outta me. I'm sorry."
Bucky shook his head, "Don't be. I like this fierce side of you. It's...sexy."
You smirk at your man, "Sexy, huh? Well, Sarge, we got two hours two ourselves while Becca's in her class. Got something in mind to pass the time?"
A grin appeared on Bucky's face as he said, "I got a few," and he practically dragged you out of the building.
