Shots And Secrets

Chapter 6

I turned back as someone called me from behind. It was Taylah, she was drunk but she looked beautiful like a small child. She was shaking her head as the music played.

I went to her and she offered me a stool. I sat there and she ordered three shots. When she got the shots, she didn't let me have any and drank all of them. I asked the bartender about how many shots she has had before, "I dont remember how many but she wont remember anything tomorrow" he said.

I told her that I'll drop her home but she caught both of my collars and said "yo Joe, why do you want to go home, I'm having a nice time here" "No you drank so much, I'll drop you home" I insisted. She didn't leave my collars and came very close to me, our faces were a few inches away and then she kissed me slowly. I didn't know how to react, this has been my dream forever. And then slowly our lips lost contact and then she spoke with tears in her eyes, "I love you Joe" "I-" I said, I dont know what happened, I wasn't ready for this, I didn't know how to react but I loved every second of her catching my collars.

"You dont love me, do you?" She asked, I knew the answer, the answer has been on my lips forever but I didn't feel like telling it at that moment, "Taylah, you dont know what you are doing right now, you are very drunk at the moment" I said.

"So you dont love me" she said "I knew it and that's why I never confessed, I never wanted to get rejected, I always wanted to be in the daydream where you loved me" she added. "No Taylah it's not like that, well the truth is that I do love you but-" "But what Joe? Is it because of the deal? Tell me about it- please?" She whispered.

"Oh I'll tell you about the deal tomorrow, when you are fully in your senses" I murmured. "Also tell me about your life, I know nothing about it" "oh let's get home first, I'll tell you about my life there" she said.

I took her to her house. But the environment right now was much calmer than in morning, it was warm and comfortable. "Uh.. what do you want to know Joe?" She asked, "Well tell me about your past relationships maybe" I said.

She was not astonished at what I wanted to know but she looked awful. "Well you know, there was a guy, his name was Alex, we were in a relationship for 4 years and then we broke up with each other, he was quite charming and very clever, An-and I loved him so much, you just cant possibly imagine how much I loved him, we spent a wonderful time together, but you know all that glitters is not gold" she said sighing, "I didn't know about what was happening behind my back, firstly he was having an affair with some other girl when I WAS HERE DREAMING ABOUT MARRYING HIM, LOOKING FORWARD FOR SPENDING MY ENTIRE LIFE WITH HIM, AND HE WAS OUT THERE UNWARE OF HOW RUDELY HE WAS BREAKING MY HEART" she added.

The name Alex sounded very familiar to me, I know for a fact that the name Alex is very common but I had a nice or I may say nasty history with. "And affair is not everything, affair was the least that he was doing, he was out there doing heinous crimes, he was a HUMAN TRAFFICKER!!!!" She said "And the worst thing was that he was going to sell me to someone, he made a trap and I was almost trapped in it, i had no hope of getting out of it but very fortunately I got out of it, the police, however, failed to catch him and now he is in the running, you know I took so much time to get over him, I loved him so much that I could die for him and he paid my love by almost selling me into something that had death as my fate. It was very difficult for me but I'm glad I can move on, you time can heal almost everything and since then I haven't dated anyone, it's been two years but I cant trust people easily." She said.

She was now having a complete breakdown, tears streaming down her face and then trickling on her clothes. I hugged her, that's the least I could do right now, I just know that it's been a painful journey. "But now Joe, I dont know, I love you" she said with her face getting rose coloured and her eyes puffy and red. I hugged her again and patted her hoping that she gets my answer that I love her, that I love her more than anything, more than I can ever love myself.

Then I held her face, her eyes seemed to look deep down into my soul, we sat there in silence, staring at each other without saying a word and I gently kept stroking her hairs with my fingers and then I finally broke the silence by saying " I love you Taylah, I love you more than you can imagine and I promise I wont ever break your trust." She sat there staring at me and then finally nodded and gave me a weak smile.

And then "THUDD!!"
