"I'm a horrible person." "No, you're not," I retorted. His gaze on me lingered for a while and turned back to stare at nothing. "I am."

High School. The most dreaded part of schooling. It's not always perfect but you've got to make the most...

School was out. We were given a break since Christmas was due in a week but I knew it was just a silly excuse to get rid of us. The teachers would do anything to get rid of us. The teachers decided to let us stay on vacation till new year's over. I couldn't be less grateful, although it meant most of my days would be spent with Coachy over here.
I slumped into it for the thousandth time almost spilling my popcorn, the entire house was silent. It has been that way since mom got her job. Of course I am happy that she's finally got something to work on but I missed her ever presence in the house, doing something weird or the other and laughing hard at the childishness.
I decided to call Andrew. The more I stayed on the couch, the more the world would seem like a black hole to me. I took my phone from on the top of the table where I placed it. I scrolled through my call logs and I found his number with ease. I barely made calls with anyone these days save for him and mom and occasionally a strange number who later says it's a mistake. Even a seal has more life than me right now.
I dialed his number and he answered at the first ring. "hey sweet Blue. What's up?" his mechanized voice came out rushed and for a minute, I wanted to not tell him what's up.
"I'm bored and thought you could prolly spend the day with me or something," I bit into my lip and checked the time. It was 3 minutes past 10.
"sorry Blue. Wish I could but I'm at work right now and my shift doesn't end till later in the night. My sister's gone to the hospital with mom. I'd have asked you to babysit her If that wasn't so," he apologetically whispered.
"it's okay. Thank you Andrew. Enjoy work."
"ew," he answered and I laughed, ending the call.
I tapped on the phone, my lips in my mouth again.
After lots of consideration, I decided to go to the town library. I had book club meeting. Mom had signed me up at the beginning of school term but I've never gone. Shy said and I quote "if you stay in this house alone any longer, you'll shrink and grow gray hair." I didn't mind gray hair though. What can I say, I just love my room. But today, I was bored out of my mind and book club meeting didn't sound half bad. I put on a black rugged jeans and a tank top, covered it with a jeans jacket since there was a slight chill and got some converse on. I rubbed on a little lip balm and tied my hair up. I looked over dressed by my standards but who knows. I could bump into Daniel O'Brien on my way to the library and I wanna look hot when that happens.
I descended the stairs and double checked to make sure I locked the door. The library wasn't that far from my house and I reached it in les =s than 20 minutes, highly distracted by the Bluetooth earpiece in my ears blasting Imagine Dragons. The librarian smiled brightly at me, her wrinkled face contorting beautifully and her eyes twinkling. She had streaks of gray hair that I could count and I could easily picture what she looked like as a young adult. I had no idea librarians were capable of genuinely smiling at people, not gonna lie. Her smile was kind and it naturally made me smile back.
