You can run the streets with your thugs
I'll be waiting for you
Until you get through
I'll be waiting...
-Tupac Shakur: Run the StreetsOmniscient
Tupac Amaru Shakur, better known by the streets as Pac. Some would describe him as generous, humble, kind and an all around humanitarian. He spent a lot of his free time giving back to his community.
Throwing back to school drives, thanksgiving food drives, toy drives for Christmas, and even donating and volunteering at the local homeless shelters. A couple of which, he owned. All at the tender age of 23.
He even went as far as starting a program to get the elders in his community their medicine and groceries delivered to them free of charge. Anything he could think of to do, to give back to his people he did it, plus more. You could very well say he was the hood's hero. But, on the other hand some people would describe him as evil, the spawn of Satan himself.
It really all just depends on which side of him you bring out. He could be a very loving, kind and generous man, but don't get it twisted. He was also nothing to play with. If you violated, best believe he was coming back with an vengeance, and you'd wish you never crossed him. Because, of this he was loved but, feared by many.
Although, a lot of people would disagree with some of the ways he made his money, that didn't stop them from begging. Making up sob stories to get a hand out instead, of going out here and getting it out the mud like he did.
When he was in need and didn't know where his next meal was coming from he had no one to call on. He had to become a man fast, he wasn't fortunate enough to have a childhood. He was too busy trynna figure out a way to provide for himself, his 2 little sisters and brother. Their fathers were nowhere to be found and their mother died from an drug overdose when, Pac was 12.
If it wasn't for their grandmother taking them in, they'd be in foster care, split up. She did the best that she could but, it was barely enough.
Especially, for extra necessities after the bills were paid and food was on the table. Like new school clothes and shoes for him and his siblings. At times they didn't get new clothes and shoes for years on end, they were lucky to get "pass me downs" from other family members.
His granny was on a fixed income, getting assistance from the government along with a check every month. From his grandad's social security, since he passed away. With a monthly check coming in and some assistance they just barely got by.
That's why he went so hard, so that not only his family didn't want or need for anything. But, also so that he could help and provide opportunities for the people in his community. That were struggling and just needed a helping hand like he did at one point and time.
Like many other days, today was one of the days he was giving back to the community. School would be back in session in the next couple of weeks so he was throwing his annual back to school drive. He gave out school supplies, shoes, jackets and even $300 gift cards so that the kids could get fresh new uniforms.
"Thank you Mr.Pac" the little girl said with the brightest smile, as he handed her a brand new Doctor Mcstuffins book bag.
Matching her excitement, he kneeled down to her eye level.
"Your welcome, baby girl go over there to the next tables so you can pick out a jacket and some shoes" he said pointing to the tables that were a couple of feet over.
