I wake up in Xavier's arms

I wake up in Xavier's arms. Pollock has wedged himself between the two of us, but I don't mind listening to the growing dog's little snores while I stare at my husband's face. He looks worried. His expression carved in a state of concern with his dark brows knitted together and soft lips pressed into a hard line.

It's rare for people like us to sleep without worry. Nothing stops one of these dangerous families from filling the resort up with explosives and then bailing before they blow us all up. Any one of the waiters could be bought over and sneak poison into our drinks. And if we don't make more allies than Kyle here, we're as good as dead.

The only thing keeping us safe is a flimsy promise between everyone here. Breaking that promise would most certainly envoke the wrath of everyone, but if you just kill everyone in any way, how would that matter?

For a split second, I picture doing it myself. Blowing this place up and all my enemies with it.

But not everyone is an enemy.

Ken One from the Yakuza is an ally and though Vito Luciano hasn't declared himself an ally just yet, he won't be an enemy either. I'm sure the Vespucci AKA Gladius gang would be an ally, Valentina and Enzo came to our wedding after all, but they might just merge with the Mafia and leave the country instead. I understand why they would leave, with things getting tense in the country, but it would be great to have another upper gang as an ally. Trojan sure as hell won't help anyone.

When Xavier's slowly eyes open and he pulls me in tighter, I forget about my troubles. With the light from the massive window to our right, his eyes look more apple green.

"Morning, Marigold," he smiles sweetly.

"Morning, Xavy," I grin back, kissing him softly.

I can feel his smile against my lips.

"Last night was fun," he says suggestively, hinting to the steamy bath session we had.

I immediately blush, pushing back and to try and avoid his devilish smirk. The one that looks like he could eat me alive.
