"You know, Sel." The young man began, "I want to create a kingdom where, regardless of species or status, everyone can live together in harmony."

The young man had a slim figure, and beautiful blue eyes. People often speak of the color of eyes, as if that were of importance, yet his would be beautiful in any shade. From his eyes came an honesty, a gentleness.

"And it would start with our becoming family, between elf and human, your highness Lemiel."

The words "your highness" came out with a tone of joking. It made him chuckle. From that Cheshire grin came a glorious sense of expectation. Some idea had made him very happy. Very happy indeed.

"Sel, you talked as if we're the ones getting married instead."

"Did it sound like that?" She laughed, "... But too bad. I'm too wonderful to belong to anyone."

"Pfft, Licht will be worried if his sister ends up single her whole life."

"Yeah whatever ~"

oOo

Sel awoke to the steady patter of rain upon the window, droplets yet to scatter the nascent rays of the rising sun. It was rare for the sky to be this cloudy in the early morning.

But Sel's mind was still wandering elsewhere – she had a strange dream. Sel tried to recall the face of the young man. Yet, her memory was blurry.

'Lemiel, right?'

Knocks on the door interrupted her wandering thoughts.

"Yes?"

The door opened as Sister Lily stepped in.

"Good morning Sel," Sister greeted with a usual tender smile, before approaching her. "It's fortunate that the young man didn't take the incident to heart."

"What young man?""

"You forgot already, huh?" Sister Lily placed a hand on her own cheek. "The one who had fallen for your trap yesterday."

'Patri!'

"Oh right! Where is he now!?"

'I have to ask him more about those elves!'

"He left early in the morning." Sister tilted her head, smiling. "He also told us not to wake you up. Isn't he nice?"

"Do you know which way he went?"

"I wonder..." She tried to to remember before pointing to the Demon's Skull, "I believe he went that way."

"Thank you Sister!"

She rushed to leave after hearing that. Yet, as soon as she stepped out of the church, it started raining harder.

Sel: (゚Д゚) Excuse me!!?

So saying, the sky had become uniformly grey. From above came streaks of bold light. Next was the sound of thunder.

It was the matter of time until a rain turned to a storm.

"..."

Asta, who just happened to pass by, saw his friend be rooted to the spot. She stood there – despite the roaring winds outside.

"Sel! Why are you standing there!?" He came and dragged her hand, pulling her inside, "You'll get sick!"

"..."
"Sel?"

"Asta... I feel like I had forgotten something."

"Huh? What do you mean?" He tilted his head. He racked his brain just to get to grips with what she said.

"..." She didn't say. Instead, she turned to walk further into the church, "Nevermind."

oOo

Sel's father was a politician, while her mother was an actress. People often said that such occupations always included a mask. Yet, they had always loved and treated her sincerely.

Sel was a bright child since birth. While she was in the body of a five-year old, her mind was that of an adolescent's. This resulted in her being much more ahead of her peers. Still, even as she studied basic psychology and neuroscience, it didn't help her understand the feeling of amnesia she was left with.

She came up with two possible theories.

One - her dream was a hallucination, spurred on by Patri's story. It was one that felt so real that she confused it with reality.

Two (and this was much more fictional) - the dream was a memory of another past life.

She wanted to believe the first theory. Yet, the story itself sucked. Meanwhile, the second one was plain theological. So, she passed it over.

Her lack of an answer hurt her more than she thought. There was an undeniable emptiness in her soul left unanswered, unfulfilled—it was one she'd always felt since her rebirth. At first, she thought it was because everything suddenly changed. Yet, that feeling had now grown larger.

She had to find Patri. No matter what.

He must have known something.
