Mother in Sel's memory was a beautiful woman. She was flawless in her bone structure, her skin was like silk over the glass and she radiated an intelligent beauty. As an actress, she always told her daughter to wear a smile, no matter how stiff the situation was.

Father in Sel's memory was an admirable man. Sel would choose the most perfect memory of her father and cling to it.

He told her how much life meant.

He told her how life isn't fair.

He told her how often life is cruel to people.

He told her how life is full of surprises.

He told her how life doesn't stop for anyone.

He told her how life destroys you.

He told her how life can berate her, betray her.

Sel has been told those things since the early days. Guess it was how a politician raised his daughter.

And he whispered how to live to the full of it. - [ Never give up, my dear...

... even when father and mother's no longer here with you. ] -

oOo

Even when she's alone, she wanted to wear a smile, as her mother wished.

Even when there's no one left, she wanted to keep moving forward, as her father wished.

A nice day, Sel was falling deep in her sleep. When waking up, she has become an infant and was stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Sel (ఠ_ఠ) "..." Please spare my life, God, if you really exist...

Speak of the devil, as always, she should have realized... it's not merely that she had bad luck. How did someone get reincarnated after a sleep? If this was someone's joke then please bring her back. She had a Math test tomorrow.

As it was written in "The Tale of Kieu":

"Destiny is envious of genius
Heaven is jealous with beauty."

Or:

"In the hundred-year span of a human life,
Talent and fate are always apt to strife.
Through experience of a harrowing change,
What we witnessed filled our hearts with tearing pain."

―[Wait, why does my life seem so miserable??! Stop having a pessimistic view of life!]―

There was a man carrying her and running fast. The momentum almost destroyed the newborn Sel. ―[ Mr. Whatever, please run slower or be more gentle. This new body of mine is fragile. And if you can, carry me back to Kyoto city.]―

He has been running for a while without stopping. Upon arriving at a church of a shabby village, he slowed down, holding his breath. As Sel was carried in the man's arms, she could feel his heart racing.

Gently, he put her outside the church, at the door. As she noticed, there's already another two infants. They were crying, as if they wanted to know why they were abandoned. It's just her guess.

Is 'abandoning your own children' a new trend? If you don't want to raise them, then don't REPRODUCE!!!!

She rolled her blue eyes, looking at him. The man was wearing a mask so she couldn't tell how he looked. As their eyes met, the man sighed and whispered:

"It is my fault to bring you to this world. Sorry, and please live well."

... Why did she feel so sad? Because she was left alone, not once but twice?

―[Sandman, dear Sandman, it isn't time yet... I want to ask that man...

... what is happening. ]―

In the end, she couldn't prevent the urge to sleep.

―[However stiff the situation is, I should smile. Is it right, Mother?]―

oOo

On October 4th, the church adopted three children. One was Asta. Another was Yuno. The other was Selina, but she wanted people call her | Sel |. The reason is simple. It reminded her about her past life.

Yet, it didn't mean that she hated the current life. Still, it's true that the church was a little shabby, and her days became noisier than expected.

As the most mature child in the church, Sel, somehow, become the babysitter for her two friends, although they were all five at that time. Her daily life was around people at the church:

"Asta, don't run too fast!! Or you will-"

"Argh!!"

'... you will tumble down.'

"HURTTT!!! Sel, why don't you warn me first-hand!?"

Sel ( ◜◡‾) "..." You won't listen either way.

Or:

"Hic hic, Sel?... Sel?"

"Yuno, what happened?" She patted his head and little Yuno hugged her like a child desiring the mother's warmth.

"Th- the kids in the village said that w-we are or-orphans. They said the kinds like us are pi-pitiful"

Sel didn't say anything back immediately. Well, they did have the point.

"Sel?..."

"Yuno... I'm happy that I am an orphan." Sel wept his tears

'It's obviously a lie.'

"So that I can meet and befriend you and Asta."

'Still, having someone besides me is fortunate.'

"R-really?"

"Yes!"

However stiff the situation was, she should be optimistic, and live to the full of her life.

Even when her father and mother were gone, Sel always acted strong. But deep inside, she's tired, and lonely.

Without knowing why she ended up in this world, Sel could still smile – because her parents wanted her to enjoy her life.

Even though she was an orphan, she could still smile – so that Father Orsi, Sister Lyly or Asta, Yuno won't worry.

Enjoy the little thing, enjoy your life – that is how Sel will live.
