My Birthday (Jennie POV)

"Yooo birthday girl is here!", "Happy birthday chef!" Few of my colleague greeted me as I entered the restaurant. My mood immediately lighten up by the warm welcome. I felt touched since they know today is my birthday. I couldn't help myself that I smiled shyly to them as a respond. I'm actually a very introvert person. I don't socialised a lot. But eversince I worked with them, I realised that they're good people, they make me feel safe in a way. Slowly I open my true self and we becoming closed like a family. I'm so grateful being part of the team.

"Happy birthday sister" Irene side hugging me as I was in the kitchen cutting some ingredient. I smiled to her instantly feeling appreciated. "Thank you" I replied softly while looking at her face. "Here, your present" she said as she put a small box on the table. She's the first one who gave me a present this year. I observed the box a little while. Suddenly my mind was occupied by lisa's image. I remember she's the first one that greeted me and hand me a gift on my birthday last year. It was such a meaningful memory. Eventually I was lost in reminiscing the past. Not until irene's voice came interupting me. "You don't want to check it?"

"You want me to open it now??" I asked feeling surprised. "Ofcourse! Open it!" she told in her excited tone. Soon I took the box on the table and open its cover. I saw an expensive watch with a few diamonds in its screen. I was shocked. I felt like its too much for me. "Irene I can't accept this, this is.." and she cut my words right away. "Hey its your special day. You gotta accept it. I will feel so sad if you reject my gift" playfully she fake a sad face as she spoke the last sentence. I was kinda hesitating but I don't want to make her feel down, so I started to put it on my wrist. "This is so beautiful. Thank you so much boss" I stated feeling overwhelmed. She smiled softly to me as she caresses my right shoulder. "Thank you for joining this family" she added. I almost burst into tears cause I can feel her sincerity. "Okey! Time to work!!" irene shouted trying to changed the gloomy mood. I laughed to her antics and pull myself together. Soon I begin to focus on my job.

It was almost 9pm, the kitchen is slowly calming down. Earlier I decided to make a lot of dumpling shape macaron. I want to offer it to the customer that come today as a birthday treat. My other teamates especially the waitress are so kind in helping me spreading the macaron to everyone. I'm so happy that most of them take it home with them.

While I was busy tidying up some dishes in the kitchen, abby, one of the waitress came to talk to me. "Chef, one of the customer want me to give this to you. She said happy birthday" I saw a small box in her hands. I'm not surprised nor excited. My mood stay subtle. Since I've been receiving a lot of presents earlier from some other random customer. So I assumed this might be just the same. But the moment I check its content, I was shocked. I saw a familiar custom made bracelet in the box. My heart beating like crazy as I took it out. Suddenly I remember lisa used to asked me whether I want a custom made bracelet, and this model is just the same just like what she had shown me in a flyer like a year ago. For a second I was in a deep thought. Is it possible for her to be here? Is this bracelet coming from her? Soon as I came back to my sense, I attacked abby with questions, "What is she look like?? Does she look like this??" I took out my wallet and show the picture of lisa. I was getting impatient to get her respond.

She look quiet stunned as she saw the photo. Quickly she answered to me. "Yes chef. Thats right, its her!" my eyes grow wider upon recieving her confirmation, I was astonished. Hastily I walked out of the kitchen and observed the other room. She's not here. She's not in the restaurant. She's gone. No. She must be somewhere around. I'm not satisfied by the result so I walked out of the building to examined further. My eyes just wondering everywhere trying to find her figure. And I came to learned that it was too late. She already disappeared. Tears started to fall on my cheeks. My heart begin to ache from missing her. I felt frustrated that I couldn't see her yet. My breath was getting uneven by the sudden intervention. I felt weak. Slowly I sit infront of the hotel at the small stairs. I started to cry letting out all of my emotion.
