*"hm? What's the plan?" Elaine asked me*

*W-Well um....I was gonna ask for Kings help.*

*"Then go ask him before he enters the forest!" Elaine told me quickly.*

*I-I'll just ask Morgan!*

I heard Elaine sigh with annoyance.

    I went to go ask Morgan, but he was busy bugging Hatty and asking questions about the potion she was working on.

*hmm...I guess I'll just work alone.*

I sprinted off into the forest, but I felt a pair of eyes watching me as I passed the first line of trees.

*Elaine...do you feel that too?*

*Maybe she was just really annoyed with me and wanted to take a break...*

    Over the past couple of days I realised Elaine doesn't always talk to me. I went to Hatty to ask why that is and she said Elaine is attached to me but isn't always in my mind. She said Elaine gets to choose whenever she wants to enter my mind and talk to me. But no matter what, even if I can't hear her, she is attached to me.

   I kept thinking about how she was probably just annoyed with me. But the same feeling of uneasiness I had with Elizabeth leaving returned. Something just didn't...feel right.

    The leaves above me rustled and a few fell to the forest floor. I quickly emitted fire from my hands.

"W-Wait!" I heard a small voice yell out.

"Who the hell are you!? Show yourself and I won't burn you alive!" I shouted as the flames were slowly inching up my arms.

    I heard my rustling above me before someone fell out of the tree and landed with a thud.

"Mally!?" I quickly extinguished the flames.

"Heh...H-Hiya." She smiled at me awkwardly.

"What are you doing out here alone?" I put my hands on my hips.

"I could ask you the same thing!" She stood up and brushed herself off.

"Hunting." I said looking at her blankly.

"Oh-" She said.

"And you? Why are you out here?" I raised my eyebrow.

"I ran out of my potion so I was heading to town...." She looked away.

     I couldn't help but smile. I remembered how me and her met. She was at the market the day I met her, stealing the same potion.

"And you were in a tree because?" I asked her.

"I heard something, I didn't know what it was so I hid in a tree. I was also hoping to see whatever it was from up there." She picked up her baton/whip (if you don't understand what the baton/whip thingy is read chapter 19!)

"You heard something?" I asked.

      I knew I felt something watching me....and now....now Elaine suddenly stopped talking to me....

"Yes, I can't really describe what it sounded like....but it almost sounded like chanting?" Mally tried her best to describe the sound she heard.

"Chanting?" I repeated, trying to think of what it could be.

        The thought of random chanting in the middle of the forest sent a shiver down my spine.

"Hey...to get our minds off that-...would you want to help me hunt and beat the boys?" I asked as I started walking again, Mally followed close behind.

"Beat the boys?" Mally chuckled.

"Well more like Ban" I laughed.

"Speaking of boys...." Mally looked at me.

"What?" I blushed slightly.

"You and King huh?" Mally smiled.

       I suddenly stopped and covered my bright red face. I heard Mally laughing next to me.

"So do you like him?" Mally poked me after she stopped laughing.

"I-....I don't know." My arms fell to my side and my face dropped.

"Wait what's wrong?" Mally put her hand on my arm.

"...Why would he like me?" My eyes watered.

"What do you mean? Why wouldn't he like you?" Mally smiled at me.

"Mally...there are things that I have done in the past....that no one should forgive me for." A single tear rolled down my cheek.

     Mally wiped my tear away and grabbed my hand.

"Come on, let's go and hunt like you said to get your mind off of it." Mally guided me through the forest.
