Linh was excited. It was Monday, the beginning of a new week. Linh went to school one week at Exillium and then one week at Foxfire. This was her week at Foxfire. Linh liked her time at the academy better, she tried to tell herself it was because she got to train with her ability, and hang out with Sophie and those people. But Linh knew the real reason. It was because Marella went to Foxfire.

Ever since Linh had met Marella, when Sophie was trying to get her human parents back, she couldn't stop thinking about her, which could get embarrassing at times. Marella was just perfect in every way, with her blonde hair, pink lips, and ice blue eyes. Not to mention her kind, yet witty personality, Marella was just gorgeous.

Linh sighed. The less she thought about Marella the better. She grabbed her satchel with the level five mascot, a saber-tooth tiger, and started shoving all her textbooks in. Next, Linh put on her red uniform, a maroon tunic and leggings with a vibrant red skirt. She looked in the mirror, examining herself, before grabbing a hair brush and starting to pull it through her black and silver hair. Linh's eyes wandered back to her red uniform. Marella looked really good in these uniforms. The red really brought out her dazzling blue eyes. Everytime Linh walked by her she just wanted to lean in close and-arg! She was thinking about Marella again.

Linh set her brush down. Life would be so much easier if she could just get over her silly crush. Crush. That's what this was. Linh had a crush on Marella.

Linh walked downstairs, to the leap master.

"Foxfire," she said. Linh was so preoccupied thinking about Marella she forgot to concentrate as she stepped into the light.

When Linh arrived at Foxfire she couldn't feel her toes or fingers, and her vision was rimmed with gold. She swayed for a minute then the ground started coming toward her, no she was going toward the ground. Linh braced for impact but when she hit the floor all she felt was a warm tingling sensation, as if she was still light leaping.

Oh, no. Linh thought. A second before she blacked out she realized the terrifying truth.

Linh Song was fading away.
