Marella checked herself in the mirror one more time. She was wearing a sunshine yellow one-shoulder dress with an orange ribbon sash around her waist. Marella's hair had been pulled into two braids that wound from the top of her head down to her chest. She'd brushed a little bit of orange sparkles on her eyelids, hoping it would bring out the orange sash.

Satisfied, Marella put on the final piece of her outfit: a red, orange and yellow flower crown, made with flowers from her mom's own garden.

Marella's dress swished at her knees as she walked down the stairs from her bedroom, the grey carpet soft beneath her feet.

"Are you guys ready?" Marella called to her parents once she'd reached the landing at the bottom of the stairs.

"Yep!" her dad said back, him and Caprise already at the Leapmaster. He was wearing a plain black and white suit, a sharp contrast Caprise's bright orange blouse and forest green pants.

Marella smiled. "All right," she joined her family under the Leapmaster. "Spendor Plains!" she called and let the light whisk them away.

The materialized on lush green grass under a canopy tent. There were already a couple hundred people milling about, but Elwin had said that he and Abner wanted a smaller wedding with only close family and friends (plus, of course, his star patients from Foxfire).

There was a person who was checking people in, making sure that no one was there who wasn't supposed to. Extra precautions had been taken since Marella and Linh's kidnapping. Who knows it only took two kidnappings - totaling to four thoroughly traumatized children) to make the Council snap to attention. The idea would have been amusing if it wasn't the whole world's wellbeing at stake.

When it was their turn, the person asked "Names?". They had beautifully dark skin with their hair poofed out in a circle around their head. Round, thinly wired glasses clung to the bridge of their nose.

"Durand, Caprise, and Marella Redek." Durand replied, gesturing to each of them in turn.

"Mhm." The person said, scrolling through their tablet until they found their names. "Okay, I need each of you to lick this please." They held out a little silver square. "Mr. Redek, you first." Marella's dad stepped forward, took the little square and licked it and handed it back to the person. After a second, Marella saw green light reflected in their glasses. "Match." They confirmed, before pressing a button on the silver DNA scanner. A soft pop echoed in Marella's ears. The moisture left from Duarand's tongue disappeared and the process repeated with Caprise and Marella. Each time a flash of green light, a "Match" from the person and a light pop.

Finally, they walked out from under the canopy tent, trudging the long grass and wildflowers, toward the crowd.

Marella spotted Linh right away. She stood out in the crowd, or at least to Marella. She wore a corset covered in white lace that faded to light blue as the skirt went down. Her hair was up in a messy bun, but somehow, the loose strands of black and silver hair added to the beauty.

Marella glanced at her parents, waiting for their approval. Her dad nodded. Marella smiled and started toward Linh.

When Linh saw Marella, her face lit up, and started walking toward Marella. Within seconds, the distance was crossed. Marella took Linh's hand in hers.

"Hi."

"Hey,"

"How are you?"

"Good."

"You look beautiful."

"You too."

Marella smiled, pushing a stay piece of Linh's hair behind her ear. She grinned back and started to lead Marella away from the crowd.
