Never again.

Linh couldn't believe she ever thought it was a good idea to tell Marella about her crush. Linh couldn't believe she almost did. She would have to thank Keefe for saving her from eternal embarrassment when Marella shot her down.

So Linh was glad when she got an imparter hail from Biana telling her to come to Everglen right away. She had said it was an "Emergency" and she needed all the girls.

Now Linh was at Everglen with all the other girls groped in Biana's bedroom as she shared the news.

"Okay, so, Elwin put us in charge in planning his wedding!" Biana squealed. "He should be coming any minute with his fiance,"

"Yay!" Marella said. She was sitting on the opposite side of the circle from Linh. Marella had tried to get Linh to tell her about her crush, but Linh refused to tell. She hated the distance it put between them.

"I've already got so many ideas!" Biana said. She seemed so excited, maybe she was trying to distract herself from all of the hard things that were happening, and the fact that they didn't know anything about the Neverseen's next move.

"Girls!" Della called from down the hallway. "Elwin is here!" They all jumped up and scrambled downstairs.

There in the entry was Elwin and a dark-skinned elf with long, wavy black hair, and bright sky blue eyes.

"Meet Abner Shaw," Elwin said with a smile.

"Soon to be Heslage," said Abner. He elbowed Elwin playfully. Linh liked Abner immediately, he just seemed like the kind of guy who just wanted to have fun, and be happy, the perfect guy for Elwin.

"All right, wedding planners, let's get to work!" Elwin said and they all walked upstairs to Biana's room and got out some paper. "We have one requirement," Elwin said with a smile, "Rainbows."

"And sparkles," Biana added.

"Of course," Abener replied. "Everyone knows that sparkles make everything better!" he said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. And it clearly was to Biana.

Everyone worked for the next couple of hours, everyone throwing in their own ideas, so by the time Sophie got a hail from Grady telling her she needed to go back to Havenfield, they had planned out everything from the flowers to the food to the outfits. Even Linh's spirits felt lifted as she pulled out the crystal that took her back to Tiergen's house, held it up the light streaming through the window, and let the warmth pull her away.

Tam was waiting for Linh when she got home.

"Hey," Linh said. Tam scowled. "Okay, what's up?" she asked, sitting down on the grass and pulling her twin down with her.

"Our parents want us to live with them again," Tam said, the shadows on his face seemed to darken as he said, though, with him being a Shade that was actually quite possible.

"Gosh, not again," Linh said, rolling her eyes. This was the third time this month her mother and father had asked. Each time they shot them down.

"Of course, I said 'no', and then do you know what he said?" Tam's voice was quiet, but so full of anger and hate, "He said 'you can't keep living like this you know, sooner or later they're going to kick you out and you'll be running back to us and begging for us to be your parents again'" Tam clenched his fists and shadows started pouring out of them, not just any shadows, shadowflux. Linh rested her hand on Tam's fist, and he relaxed and the shadows retreated. This had been happening a lot, whenever Tam got mad.

"Sorry," He mumbled, looking at his feet. "I just hate them so much!"

"I know," Linh said, "I do too," She then rested her head on Tam shoulder and they sat there letting the sun tan their faces, and the grass tickle their legs. They sat there resting for so long Linh lost count but she didn't care. Maybe, just maybe, Linh thought, Everything could turn out all right.

Of course that was when Marella materialized in front of her holding a bubble with a strange liquid sloshing inside.

Alkahest.

"Oh..uh..sorry to interrupt," Marella said, "but we have to go,"

"Where are you going?" Tam asked protectively, Linh thought it was kind of cute that Tam always wanted to protect her, but sometimes it could get really annoying. Didn't he know she could do stuff by herself? But Tam couldn't go with them where they were going, she saw on his face that he knew it when Marella said.

"Our training session with Fintan,"
