XCVI - The Newest Educational Decree

WITH NO NEW EDUCATIONAL decrees to keep busy on, Astra felt a sense of freedom for the rest of the weekend than she had all her life. There weren't any new mysteries, any endangered on-the-run parents, or any rebellions to take care of.

Instead, she was looking over some of Luna's homework, who was busy typing another edition of the Quibbler next to her, with Hermione sitting across from them knitting more of her house-elf clothes, and Harry and Ron doing their own homework next to Hermione. A bit further away, she could even see Lily and James taking in the autumn weather, though she tried to keep her eyes off it- seeing them only reminded her of the last time she had talked with Regulus. Across the courtyard, she noticed Ginny and Neville chatting over something and smiled softly.

Of course, the brief moments she felt like a normal teenager (or at least as regular as she could get for going to a school of witchcraft and wizardry) were over by the next day when she noticed the large sign affixed to the Gryffindor noticeboard.

She sighed, already taking out her notebook for she recognized it as all of the other educational decrees, though this one was much larger, covering everything else on it. The new sign was printed in large black letters and there was a highly official-looking seal at the bottom beside a neat and curly signature.

BY ORDER OF THE HIGH INQUISITOR OF HOGWARTS
All student organizations, societies, teams, groups, and clubs are henceforth disbanded. An organization, society, team, group, or club is hereby defined as a regular meeting of three or more students.
Permission to re-form may be sought from the High Inquisitor
(Professor Umbridge).

No student organization, society, team, group, or club may exist without the knowledge and approval of the High Inquisitor. Any student found to have formed or to belong to, an organization, society, team, group, or club that has not been approved by the High Inquisitor will be expelled.
The above is in accordance with Educational Decree Number Twenty-four.

Signed: Dolores Jane Umbridge, High Inquisitor

She raised an eyebrow; Umbridge had already found out.

How? Astra had no idea. She could have sworn that no one was in the Hog's Head that they didn't want there- but then again, she also should have known that any of the wizards there could have been working for the ministry and therefore Umbridge.

It was a foolish mistake, she thought as she pulled out her notebook and grabbed a quill from one of the tables, but it wouldn't stop them.

She stayed in the corner of the room the rest of the morning, reading one of her books for her free time, and watched as groups of Gryffindor's walked down the stairs, each as surprised as the last from the new board. She noticed a few glancing her way- the ones who had been at the meeting in the Hog's Head, but she only gave them a small grin; they were going to do this anyway.

Eventually, Harry and Ron made their way into the common room and Astra walked over, watching as Harry's hands formed fists.

"This isn't a coincidence," he was saying. "She knows."
