Chapter 6

The cafeteria
Riley, Maya, farkle and Shawn were sitting in their table eating. "Where is Lucas, why isn't he sitting with us?" Asked farkle. He don't really know about the story. They thought he needed to know so they told him the Riley story. Bub of course Maya didn't told them her story. She feels to bad to Riley not telling her but it's the smartest thing to do. "So today is your exhibit..." Shawn didn't continue the sentence, he was in shock from what he saw. "Shawn, what's wrong?" Asked Maya. Shawn pointed forward, they turned around and saw Lucas with the jocks outfit, laughing with the jocks, and most of all, hugging with missy Bradford. Maya and Riley walked towards Lucas. "What are you wearing? Why you are with them? Who are you?" Said Maya. "Well well well look who's here" said missy. Missy was always the biggest enemy of Maya. She knew all her secrets, she used them to threat Maya. "Isn't that the homeless, orphan little girl?" Said missy. "I am not an orphan, I got a mom!" Maya raised her voice. "Oh yeah? Then where she was in career day? Or in the parents day? I bet she's not gonna come to that stupid exhibition today." Said missy. "Maya don't need those to be happy. She got a house and she got a mom but mostly she got me, farkle and Shawn." Said Riley smiling to Maya. "Oh yeah, do you have a boyfriend that loves you?" Asked missy, "I'm totally fine without. But who's exactly want to be your boyfriend" asked Maya. "I am" said Lucas, "what?!" Riley and Maya said in one mouth. "What you just heard" said Lucas, he hugged missy and said "I think missy is the most beautiful girl in this school and probably in this all world." He kissed missy's chick and missy smiled an evil smile. Maya couldn't believe what she just heard. Before few days he told this to her, he told her that she is the most beautiful girl in the world. Maya was disappointed from Lucas that he moved to the 'dark side' of the school. "You can do whatever you want" said Maya, "but remember that this is not who you are" said Maya and she walked back with Riley to their table. "So how it went?" Asked Shawn. "We lost him" said Maya sadly and they continued eating.

Lucas was standing there thinking on the words she just said. 'This is not who you are' was stuck in his head. "Don't pay attention to them babe" said missy kissing his chick, "let's go to the mall right now and you'll forget everything and you'll feel better" said missy. Ditch from school or not? Lucas didn't know what to choose. If he will say yes the teacher might put him absenteeism, and if he will not go, all the jocks might think he's a loser. "Sure I'll go with you" said Lucas. Missy smiled and they started to walk out of school.

The exhibition
Maya was sitting in the corner with her painting. "Wow look at that" said Shawn with a smile. Maya drew her mom in the restaurant she works. "I'm so proud of you" said Riley and she hugged Maya. "Thank you guys" said Maya. "Look at that place, hey that is the restaurant right across the street right?" Asked Shawn. "Yeah, my mom is working there" told him Maya. "Oh so that's your mom, but why can you only see half of her?" Asked Shawn. Maya's smile fade away, Riley punched him in the arm and Shawn realized something. Maya sees her mom half of the time, that's why she drew half of her. "Oh sorry.." Shawn apologized. "It's ok, I get used to this" said Maya. "Anyway, what your moms thinking about this?" Riley tried to change the mood. Maya looked at Riley weirdly, "your mom never showed up?!" Riley raised her voice, Maya shook her head. "You want to tell us your mom NEVER showed up?" Said Shawn, he was so angry. He knows the feeling to be left, to be disappointed. Maya shook her head again and smiled, a fake smile. "Excuse me, I need to go somewhere" said Shawn and he walked out of school. He started to walk to Maya's mom restaurant.

That's the restaurant, he got in and looked for Maya's mom. He saw her, she was standing there making someone dinner. "Hey, how can I help you sweet boy?" Said nicely Katy, Maya's mom. "You are Katy hart?" Asked Shawn, "umm yes.." Said Katy, "what are you doing here?" Asked Shawn, "I'm working here" said Katy with a little giggle. "I mean what are you doing when you suppose to be at the school exhibition with your daughter" Shawn raised little bit his voice. "That's none of your business" said Katy, "I know, but I mostly know how it feels to live without parents, See, I don't have mom, and I don't have a dad. Nobody should live the life I'm living" screamed Shawn "Maya has a mom and a dad, but why they're not with her supporting her?" Screamed Shawn, "who told you Maya has a dad?" Asked Katy "w-what you mean?" Asked Shawn, Maya told him how her dad used to take her for trips and all that. "Maya's dad left us" said Katy, with a fake smile. "Look Shawn, I appreciate your caring for Maya, I work here so hard to make her and better future, I want her to have a good marriage, and I thank everyday that Maya have you, Riley, farkle and Lucas to be her friends, I'm not that worry when she is with you" explained Katy with a smile. Shawn smiled to her and said "don't worry ms. Hart, you daughter is in good hands, trust me" "thank you...." Said Katy, he didn't tell her his name, "oh yeah" laughed Shawn, "Shawn hunter" smiled Shawn. "Hunter?" Asked quizzically, that last name was heard for her so familiar, but she couldn't remember from where. Shawn walked back to school.

Maya was talking with Riley when Shawn came in and took Maya aside, "why did you lied to me?" Asked Shawn, "what you mean?" Maya didn't understand what he meant. "About your dad" answered Shawn, Maya looked down, "I see you talked to my mother" said Maya. "Maya, I need to tell you the truth" said Shawn, Maya was confused. "My dad married three times, and all my 'moms' left us. And last year my dad died from heart attack, so basically I got left, I'm an orphan, I get you" said Shawn. They stared into each other's eyes, Maya hugged Shawn and they could feel a connection between them, it's like they share the same blood. They could never thought that it would ever happen because of their parents, but they are going to change everything.
