Chapter 20

It's was a new day, Maya woke up with the draw she drew yesterday at night, that made her smile. She walked to the kitchen, opened the fridge and looked, there's nothing to eat, like usual. She wearied her clothes, washed her face and walked outside her apartment to the Matthews.

She knocked the door, Riley opened it and let Maya in. "Hey riles, what's for breakfast?" Asked Maya with a smile. "Maya..are you ok?" Asked Riley, how Maya can be so happy when shawn is still in the hospital? Maya looked at Riley still with the same smile, "sure, why wouldn't i?" Asked. "Because, you know, all the thing with Shawn..aren't you worry?" Asked Riley. "Of course I am. It just, yesterday I talked to jack, and he made me feel good, he made me like everything is going to be ok" said Maya.

They sat at the table, topanga gave them pancakes and sat with them to eat, lately Cory and auggie joined the breakfast.

After breakfast, Maya took the subway to the hospital to see how shawn doing. She came there pretty fast, she walked at the hallway trying to find jack. He sleeping on the chair near Shawn's room. "Jack, jack wake up" whispered Maya, he woke up and smiled to Maya, "oh Maya, hey how are you?" Asked jack, he rubbed his eyes , trying to wake up. "I'm good" Maya giggled, " I brought you some pancakes " she gave him the box with few pancakes she took from topanaga. "Why thank you" he said, he opened the box and took one pancake and ate. "How's shawn?" Asked Maya, "he's fine, you want to come in?" Asked jack. Maya walked into the room, there was the same shawn she saw yesterday. She took a sit next to him and sight, "why you don't want to wake up? Cmon, there a whole new world now for us and we need to explore it together. I can't do it without you, I need you here." Said Maya, "well then I'm not going anywhere" a quit voice was heard, "sh-shawn?!" Said Maya, "then no it's mr. Clutterbucket" laughed shawn. "I'm going to call the doctors" smiled Maya, "no please,let's just talk" said Shawn. "Fine. You really scared me!" Said Maya, "I'm sorry. I know I promised you that I'm not Going to leave and I feel really bad for doing this. I also heard we're not brothers" said Shawn, "I forgive you, cause you're still here" said Maya, "and I'm not going anywhere" finished shawn.

They stared at each other eyes, they could feel their heart beating. Maya leaned in, her lips touched Shawn's lips, sparks fly. It reminded their first kiss, when shawn fought lucas and Maya was cleaning his scars. When the separated, Maya hugged shawn and walked out of the room to call jack, "jack, shawn is awake!" She screamed from happiness. Jack opened his eyes and ran into the room.

Maya sat on the chair waiting for jack to finish his talk with shawn, then she saw the Matthews family. Maya ran to Riley all full of joy and happiness, "Riley shawn is awake, shawn is awake" she said while hugging her, cory and topanga were happy too, and Auggie just didn't understand a thing. Then two guys came to the hallway, lucas and farkle. Maya hugged them and told them the excited news.

Riley and Maya sat on the chair, "so, are you and lucas are dating?" Asked Maya. "I don't know, I actually don't even know where we are" answered Riley. "Why not?" Riley looked over to Shawn's room, " because all that happened with Shawn" said Riley. "Well now everything with Shawn is good and you can now, you know, build your relationship" said Maya, Riley looked over her dad who was sitting near topanga and talking to her, "yeah well, if my father wont ruin me" Maya looked over cory, "don't worry, I'm sure you're father will understand" smiled Maya to get friend. Riley hugged maya, a friendship hug, best friend hug.

Suddenly jack ran out of Shawn's room screaming "doctors! Doctors!" He was all in panic. "J-jack what's wrong?" Maya caught jacks arm , looked into his eye and made him to calm down. "Shawn is having a heart attack" he said and ran to call the doctors. Maya was shocked, she watched the doctors in the room talking with their self while everybody outside praying for shawn.

"This can't be happening" cried Maya, "I was with him, I talked to him, he was fine" jack looked bad, his eyes were red, that reminded him the time his father died from heart attack. A big silent hit the people. No one knew what to say, what's right to say in these situations?

The doctor came to them, everybody stood, Maya and jack with red eyes from crying, everybody could feel their hearts beating fast and strong, the doctor looked down, took a breath and said, "I'm sorry, his heart wasn't strong enough. We tried our best".
