Hey Sister, Can you hear Me?
Remember? This is the same levee,
Which saw us playing merrily,
Which heard us gossiping highly,
Which knew how great a bond we shared,
And took pride with how much we cared,
Hey Sister, Can you hear me?Hey Sister, Can you? Can you hear me?
Seems like my loud cry and feeble voice
Have failed to pierce the spewing noise
Of the sapphire-blue canal,
Enriching the grandeur of this locale,
But with heavy hopes in my heart,
I will remain seated over this soily dirt,
But Sister, Can you hear me?Hey Sister, Can you hear me?
The faint memories of the annual fair
And the only nightmare of that year,
Are revived by a time-snare.
That distant evening,
Which saw us living and dying,
Has made its advent in my mind,
After a year as I find,
This canal saw us sundering,
It heard us crying,
It heard me howling,
It saw you dying.Yet it snatched you away from me!
You couldn't meet mother,
And father couldn't see you either,
I couldn't speak further
Kept noisily quiet rather.
You faded away in that water.
And I couldn't save you sister. But it's all about the great fate,
That the 'sapphire-blue canal' is having,
Or precisely the 'stained ruby canal',
That it's still standing unharmed
Or the 'great fate' I am having,
That I couldn't save you.
Curse on me!
Hey Sister, Can You Hear Me?~~~
