"y/n" You were busy playing with your toys until you heard a familiar buzzing sound along with someone gently calling out to you. You looked up from the ground where you had slumped and saw your sister, Cassandra kneeling in front of you.
"Sister!" You smile at her with a toothed grin, dropping your toy as you went to hug her. Cassandra made sure to clean herself up before showing herself to you. Changing into a clean black cloak, wiping the blood from her face, and bathing herself in perfume to hide the metallic smell. Sure, one day you will know what they do to get their food but everyone around you has deemed that now is not the time for that, you are still young and you deserve to have your innocence at the age of eight.
"Aww... Did our little one miss me?" She smiles as she hugs you in return, pulling you close to her. You eagerly nod before looking up at her.
"Where did you and the rest go? I had no one to play with for the whole week," You pouted.
Cassandra chuckles, "Mother had me, Bela, and Daniela take care of some tasks for her. Don't worry about it, all right?" She tells you as she gently caressed your hair. She then adds. "Happy birthday, little one. I have a gift for you,"
"Really? Where?" You asked, your eyes sparkling and your voice filled with excitement.
"Downstairs," Was her reply. "Hold on," Cassandra began to lift you up from the ground, a part of her body turning into a could of bugs as she went to move. Because of this, it didn't take the two of you long to move around the house. You ended up at the fireplace near the entrance where a beautifully wrapped red box was sitting on one of the mahogany table. When she had set you down, you rushed towards the box looking at it with curious eyes. You turned to Cassandra and she was looking down at you in a loving manner before sitting down at the leather couch that was in front of the table.
Cassandra picks the box up and hands it to you. The box wasn't too big or too small, nor was it too heavy. "Open it,"
You took the box from her and she picks you up, setting you down on her lap as you went to open the box; untying the shiny black ribbon and tearing the red matted wrapper. You lift the cover and toss it to the side, removing the sheets that first came to your view.
You gasped as you lifted the dress in the air, admiring the softness of the lavender color and the intricate stones that were sown on the fabric.
"Sister! Is this for me? It's so pretty!" You gushed as you turned to her.
"Yes little one, it's for you! Mother said that she wants you to wear that for when she brings you along in her meeting with the other lords a the day after tomorrow,"
"I don't want to go!" You protest, setting the dress down as a frown appeared on your face. "Hammer man is there and he scares me!"
Cassandra laughs at the name you used to describe the Lord Heisenberg. "Really? It's the hammer man-thing who scares you? Not Moreau?"
You shake your head, "Moreau might not be pretty, but he's nice to me, unlike hammer man who always looks grumpy and angry!"
It was then when the two of you heard loud footsteps echoing in the room. The door near the fireplace opens and you see your mother bending down as she enters the room.
"Mother!" You smile at her.
"Aww, my sweet y/n. Come here," Alcina walks up to you as you hopped off Cassandra, holding the dress in one hand as you raised your other arm as your mother bent to pick you up and hold you in her arms.
"Mother, is it true that I have to join you with your meeting? Can't I just stay and play with my toys with my sisters?" You asked, hoping you would get the answer that you want.
"I'm sorry my darling but mother Miranda wishes to see you and we must obey her. Why, little one? Is there a problem? Have any of the lords done anything to you?" The thought of anyone laying their hands on you and your sisters angered your mother. She loved you all dearly and you knew that as she always showered you with gifts and attention whenever she could.
You shake your head, "No, but... But..." You looked down at the dress you were holding gently toying with one of the stones engraved on it. You didn't know why you couldn't tell Alcina. Maybe because it was this fear of Lord Heisenberg getting angry at you for some odd reason.
"She's afraid of Heisenberg," Cassandra speaks up for you.
Alcina rolls her eyes, "Ugh, that gauche man. You have nothing to be afraid of, y/n, you will be next to me the entire time. I promise,"
"Ok," You agree as you look up at her. Alcina smiles at you, kissing your forehead before setting you down.
"I must go and take care of a few things for the meeting. I will see you for supper."
"Yes mother," You and Cassandra reply at the same time before Alcina began to walk upstairs, the sound of her footsteps echoing the halls.
"What do you say and you try on the pretty dress now, hmm?" You turn to Cassandra and nod. She picks you up and flies you back to your room where you out the dress on. Cassandra showered you with compliments, telling you how beautiful you are and how the dress compliments you and its intricate designs as well.
During the entire time before supper, Cassandra has played with you, listened to your stories about the things you kept yourself busy with the entire time they were gone, like going to the kitchen and watching the maids cook, running around the halls to hide from the maids when it was time for you to bathe, and repeatedly asking them when her sisters and mother will be back, and many more.
It amused Cassandra, seeing how sweet and carefree you are. Oh how she wished it would stay that way forever, to see you so positive and gleeful all the time was all she wanted.
"Sister, if I grow up, do you think I would be as tall as mother? Or you?" You asked as you put on a dress on your porcelain doll.
"I don't know, little one, perhaps?"
"If I'm older, will I also be doing errands for mother like you and Bela, and Daniela are?"
"Likely so,"
"Do you think mother would let me go out on my own when I'm older? How come only mother goes outside and not you?"
She stiffens at the question for a second before answering as best as she could. "The cold is not kind to your sisters, it hurts us,"
"I'll keep you warm! I'll protect you! See!" You drop your doll and wrap your arms around her torso. "There! Now you're warm and the cold can never hurt you again!"
Cassandra sighs with a smile on her face, "Yes, little one, I feel very safe right now," She tells you as she wraps her arm around you as well.
