Chapter 38: Number One

"Morning!" shouts Eden as she bursts out of her room

Her voice echoes throughout the hallway. She hurriedly knocks on everyone's rooms to wake them up. Evander slowly opens his door while rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning, Eden," he says in an exhausted tone

Kokuro opens his door; the dark rings underneath his eyes not improving in the slightest. He softly nods his head in acknowledgment. Calina bursts out of her room; her brows furrowed in annoyance.

"Hey! Who the hell is making so much god damn noise this early in the day!? My head is pounding!" she shouts

Eden stands frozen in place; the happiness in her face turning into fear. Calina's expression immediately changes to joy.

"Good morning, Greenie!" Calina says while tightly embracing her

Evander stares in a mix of disbelief and exhaustion. Andrus slowly opens his door while chewing food.

"Where did you get something to eat?" Evander asks

"I always have some with me. Don't worry about it" Andrus replies while taking another bite

A loud shriek interrupts the morning greetings. Eden quickly runs to find a maid standing in the doorway of her room. Eden quickly closes the door and awkwardly chuckles.

"Haha. Sorry. I forgot how messy I can be!" she nervously says

"It's okay, Greenie! You're perfect the way you are!" Calina says with a big grin

The team makes their way to the entrance of the building.

"Well, lead the way kid," Calina says while nudging Kokuro

Kokuro pulls out his tablet and softly types onto it. After a minute, Kokuro starts to walk away without saying a word.

"Jeez. This kid is quite the buzzkill" says Calina

"You get used to it," says Evander

Everyone starts to follow Kokuro.

"Since we are all in this together, we need to understand each other's abilities," says Evander

"No need. I work alone" Calina says confidently

"It couldn't hurt!" Eden suggests

"Okay!" Calina says with a joyful tone

"Do we really have to chit-chat the whole way?" Kokuro asks

Calina's expression changes to one of hostility.

"Greenie says we should do it, so we will!" Calina says in a stern tone

Kokuro continues to look ahead despite the gaze of death burning into the back of his head.

"I'll start!" shouts Eden as she shoots a hand into the air, "I can control lightning and electricity! I can make it go whoosh whoosh bang!"

Eden motions her arms around almost frantically.

"Oh! And I can move really fast!" she adds

"You're amazing!" Calina says energetically

Evander subtly coughs to regain everyone's attention.

"I am the medic of the group. I can heal any wound, given the time. I teleport to wherever my willpower touches, and I can negate a person's willpower for 30 seconds if mine touches them." Evander quickly says

"Cool," Calina says dismissively

"I'm strong. I throw these scythes and they come back" Andrus says confidently
