CHAPTER THREE
POPPY GRABBED her wand from the kitchen table as she mumbled apparate landing at Hogsmeade. She patted down her clothes fixing the wrinkles that were visible on her blue jeans and began walking through each store briefly skimming each one as she made a mental note to return to Honeydukes to grab some chocolate frogs for her and some Cauldron Cakes for Es and Nyx.
Poppy arrived at her main destination Tomes and Scrolls and entered the sound of the bell from the top of the door announcing her arrival. Quickly a girl had walked onto the counter from behind the beaded curtain wearing a yellow summer dress with white violets enhancing her rich warm skin with her hair let freely loose, flashing a smile as she spotted Poppy at the entrance of the door.
"Poppy" she giggled walking from the side of the counter to give her friend a hug.
"Prairie how have you been?" Poppy asked as she attempted to hug her back while Prairie held tightly onto her waist.
"Good you?"
"So have I," she grinned. "I'm looking for the book Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur? I came by last week and Luna said it would be arriving today."
"About time my mum finally got it right." Prairie rolled her eyes playfully. "It's in the third row at the very back with all the poetry books."
"Oh ok thank you love."
"No problem, beautiful," she said and smiled one more time before returning back to her place behind the counter.
Poppy took a turn to her right then to her left before arriving at the third row Prairie had been talking about. She raised her hand and used the tip of her finger to gaze through the spines of the books before landing on the book she had come for Milk and Honey. Poppy grabbed the book from the shelf and began flipping through each page in excitement though instantly noticed that some of the pages had gotten ruined with inaudible writing.
"Prairie," she said as she walked back towards the counter with the book in her hand.
"Mhm," Prairie looked up from her own personal book that she had been reading, The one and only Ivan.
"I was won-"
"Have you read this?" she sighed, wiping off a tear with her knuckles. "Ivans friend Stella dies and he makes a promise to free them" Prairie continued holding herself from crying any longer.
"No" Poppy chuckled, placing the book on the counter. "But I'm sure Ivan will be alright. he probably has other friends to help him throughout his loss."
"He's a gorilla. which makes it even sadder because he's trapped."
"Oh" Poppy replied, making a visible O shake with her cupid lips. "I'm sure Ivan will still be alright, it'll be okay."
