(Eliza Flynn)
It was starting to snow, and hard. I looked out from the window of my dorm room, humming as I watched the snow fall and create a foggy white veil over the entire campus. I loved the winter, and snow was one of the main reasons.
I remember the times when I would go out in the snow without a coat or anything, the cold seemingly never affecting me. My father didn't seem to worried, but when everyone else was out he would always make me put on a coat.
My mother was seemingly always working on things, but since she was working for the military I could see why she was now. She was what the military was searching after desperately, humans with the mutation that made them immune from the XZ-Gene radiation emitted from Superhumans that they had to be around most of the time.
Both of my parents had the mutation, and the government took interest in both my mother and father. My father did not have any interest in the military though, but my mom seemed to be interested in it.
I mean, she was said to be an intimidating person who had an iron will that sought to change things. I can kind of see why she would want to be involved in the military.
Well... those are only what I have heard about her. She was killed when I was 4 years old, and I can barely remember about it. The only thing I remember about it is the fear and my dad telling me to hide and not to come out until he says so.
I complied, but after that I was told to go to bed. Her murder was suspicious to me, and there are still a lot of things I do not know about it. However, I have gotten no answers to that.
I guess it was for the best.
"I'm back! Sorry it took so long" Monica's voice said, snapping me out of my train of thought. I jumped a bit and then looked back to see her, smiling and waving back.
"Oh hey, how was that trip?" I asked her.
"Sorry I startled you, and it was fine. I cannot go into detail about it unfortunately because of strict confidentiality."
"That's understandable..."
Monica looked at me, and she can sense my curiosity. I still had this question from the deepest bowels of my mind, and it was still there.
"What's up? You seem to have something on your mind" Monica asked me, as caring and attentive as always.
"Oh it's nothing important, just wondering about what happened to my mother as all... again" I said, chuckling nervously like I do sometimes.
Monica nodded, understanding. "Mind telling me about it?" she asked me, and I nodded. I trusted her, why wouldn't I?
"Well... it's a complicated thing. I was pondering my mothers death, and how I find it suspicious based off of what I can recall. The police never caught who murdered her... and not to mention the funeral was suspicious to" I said to her, and Monica nodded in understanding.
"I agree, however a lot of strange things are bound to happen when Superhumans are involved. It's been that way ever since we came into existence."
Monica sighed, her eyes closing as if a dark sort of nostalgia flooded her mind, but then she opened them back up after a second and acting like everything was normal again. I could not read her mind.
