Kate POV

I was in middle school when it all started.....The mass amounts of bullying started after a terrible day.

"Kate come over here!" One of my good friends says.

"What?" I ask as she signed for me to get closer.

"Ok, now what?" I ask whispering for some reason

"I got a boyfriend!" She says happily

"Wow, that's good, who is he?" I ask as she looks around the classroom

"It's Conner! I can't believe he asked me out!" She says excitedly. Conner is one of the popular boys, good-looking, smart, all-around every last aspect a middle schooler would want in a boy for our age.

"Wow, that's great!" I say as I cheer her on.

"He asked me to go to the movies with him, so romantic!" She says blushing as she holds her face

"Calm down, calm down," I tell her as she smiles

"I'm just so excited!" She says as I smile

"That's good, I assume we aren't walking each other home today?" I ask as she confirms my thoughts

"Yea," she says as I see the teacher walk in.

"Class is starting," I mutter as I go to my desk. I'm happy for my friend, she deserves it.

The class went by quickly, before I knew it, school was ending.

I pack my bags as I keep an eye on my friend as Conner approaches her. They talk and she goes on ahead of him. I didn't realize, but I was super slow, it was only me and him in the classroom.

"Your Kate right?" He asks as I'm shocked he knows my name

"Yea, that's right," I say trying not to stutter

"Pretty name," he flirts as I blush. At this age, you blush at any compliment you get.

"Thanks, Conner," I say as he smiles

"You know my name too huh?" He says as I nod

"This is a good start, I was wondering if you would like to go to the movies tomorrow?" He asks me as I look at him confused

"I thought you were going with my friend?" I say confused as he frowns

"I'm sorry, I saw her talking to you and I was captivated by your beauty," he says smugly

"I'm sorry, I can't do that to my friend," I say as he frowns

"She looks ugly compared to you, from afar you don't look like much but up close you're a hidden Jem," he says raising my chin up with his hand.

I hear some books fall behind the door followed by footsteps running away.

"What was that?" He asks turning around. I take this chance to grab my bag and leave

"Where are you going?" He asks

"I'm uncomfortable so I'm leaving!" I tell him as I walk home.
