I'm going to the restroom, he said. I won't be taking along, he said.
So why has 15 minutes passed by and he still hasn't come back?
You were sprawled out on Xiao's bed, eyes repeatedly observing every part of his room. Just earlier, he told you he would be going to the restroom "really quick", yet he still hasn't come back since then. You were getting really bored as time slowly passed by, having no idea of what to do.
Tired, you were about to doze off into a peaceful nap when a somewhat funny idea randomly popped into your head. You quickly jumped off the bed and looked at the door, starting to cautiously walk towards his closet across the room.
Quickly but quietly you opened the closet doors, reaching out your hands and rummaging through his clothes. You and Xiao had matching sweaters but you never wore any of his clothing before, so this made you pretty excited. You took out a big teal hoodie, deciding to wear it right then and there to surprise him.
You were about to put it over your head when a different idea went into your head this time. You paused, then walked over to your backpack that was leaning against his bed. You gently folded up the clothing and put it into your backpack, zipping it back up.
You were extremely lucky, considering the fact that right as you let go of the zipper the door creaked open and Xiao walked in.
He closed the door behind him and plopped onto the bed, sighing. "Sorry Y/N, my sister just needed some help with a math problem."
"Ganyu? Trouble with math homework? How odd." you said, smiling as if you didn't just do anything wrong. You flopped right onto the bed next to him and he tiredly wrapped an arm around you.
"Oh crap, wait," You sat up suddenly, eyes widened. "We had math homework??"
Xiao let out a groan and wrapped his other arm around you, pulling you back towards him.
"Do it later, let's just cuddle right now.." he quietly muttered, and you laughed softly.
"Alright."
You dialed Xiao's number, nervous but excited as you heard him on the other side pick up.
It was Friday morning and you were already prepared for the school day, also wearing Xiao's hoodie. You decided to purposely arrive tardy for school and show it off to the whole class to make Xiao's reaction even more worth it. Since he wore the teal hoodie often throughout the week, you knew most of your classmates would probably recognize it.
"Hey Xiao," You spoke into the phone, trying to hide and mask the excitement in your voice. "Something... unexpected happened, so you can walk to school without me."
You could almost hear him raise his eyebrows in concern on the other side of the call. "Are you sure? Are you okay, Y/N?"
"Yeah I'm fine!" You quickly reassured him. "It's nothing bad Xiao, just really sudden. You'll see me in class though—"
"Are you completely sure?" He interrupted you. "I can wait for you if you want, it's no trouble at all."
It warmed your heart to see how concerned he was about you, even though you said there was nothing wrong. It almost made you feel bad for the prank you were about to pull on him.
Keyword: almost.
"I'm positive," you responded, smiling even though he couldn't see it. He sighed and was quiet for a bit before speaking again.
"... Alright, I trust you. Don't forget that you can always call for me, I don't care if I'm in class or not."
You almost melted away. "Y-Yeah, I promise I will if I ever need to!"
After talking a bit more and saying goodbye, you hung up and sat on the edge of your bed. All you had to do was wait until class was about to start to leave your house and start walking to school.
When the time arrived, you picked up your backpack and left the house. Although you planned on taking your time and walking, you couldn't handle the excitement, moving in between speed-walking and jogging. You reached the school earlier than you expected but it didn't matter, everyone was in class anyway.
Climbing up a few stairs to your classroom's floor, you gripped the strap of your backpack tighter. If anyone passed by you, they could probably feel the energy pouring out of you. You were ecstatic.
Finally, you were now standing in front of your classroom's door. Taking a deep breath, you reached your hand out and gripped the handle, sliding the door open as hard as you could to make a loud noise.
"Hello Y/N," your teacher, Mr. Zhongli, stated, flinching a bit when he heard the loud slam of the door. He was in the middle of writing something on the board. "You're a bit... late."
Either way, you didn't care. You didn't pay any attention towards him or to the students who looked up and noticed your arrival (and clothing). Your eyes only landed on Xiao on the opposite side of the classroom.
On a very red, blushing, Xiao.
His cheeks were a bright red, eyes widened. He immediately stood up, pushing the chair back with one hand and the other hand on his table.
"Y/N—"
Kaeya, your classmate, let out a whistle from the back of the classroom. Another student (probably Childe) called out, "Nice sweatshirt, Y/N!"
If Xiao was blushing before, he was extremely bright red now.
You smiled innocently before turning towards your teacher. "Sorry, something unexpected came up at home."
He sighed. "It's alright, you're here now. I'll put you down on the attendance sheet."
As Mr. Zhongli made his way to his table, you walked towards your own, passing by Xiao. As predicted, he immediately took a hold of your wrist and pulled you back a bit.
"W-What.. Why are you wearing that?" Xiao stammered out in a whisper. "How did you..."
His ears were tinted red. You giggled before saying, "Don't you think your clothes look great on me?"
Oh my god. You were the death of him.
"I'll take it off if you want," you offered, ignoring the feeling of eyes on the both of you.
"I never said that," Xiao muttered back, letting out an exhale and calming down a little. "You look okay.."
"Hm? Only 'okay?'" You smiled. You found amusement in seeing him flustered when he was usually unbothered and reserved.
You spoke too soon.
He suddenly pulled you towards him, your eyes widening in surprise as you felt your body heat up from the lack of distance. Both of you were almost chest to chest, both of your left shoulders touching.
"If you missed me that much, you could've asked to wear my clothes," Xiao whispered into your ear. You nearly flinched, suddenly getting flustered. "You look good in them anyways."
Oh, how the tables have turned.
