imagine finding xiao's polearm somehow lying around and your curiosity taking over, hesitantly picking it up and beginning to practice with it. although you expected it to be similar to the sword (the weapon you usually use) it really isn't; leading to you underestimating the length of it and accidentally cutting your shoulder when you flip it around.

xiao being an adeptus he immediately senses you in danger, quickly teleporting in front of you and taking in the situation. his amber eyes scans over your figure before realizing you were the danger to yourself. so when you give him a nervous laugh and a weak shrug, he really can't find it in himself to get mad at you.

he does, however, lecture you a lot a little bit as he cleans up your wound and reminds himself never to leave his weapon lying around again. you kiss the purple diamond on his forehead right after he bandages you up and he freezes, mind racing and thinking about what to say next.

in the end xiao surprisingly offers to teach you how to use the weapon, lending you his own and showing you step by step. you definitely aren't complaining when his figure is right behind yours, his hands on your elbow and forearm to fix your position. both of your hearts are fluttering and even xiao has to take a break to think about what he has done. good luck!

streamer!au where both you and xiao are popular gaming streamers! you decide to talk to him for the first time and introduce him to the idea of collab and surprisingly, he responds with the idea of trying out a new horror game. the whole time he doesn't freak out at all (maybe little flinches here and there) but will have a very tiny amused smile if you get scared over it.

both of your fans and viewers end up loving the collab, especially because they were shocked that xiao agreed to it despite not liking streaming with others much. but somehow you are an exception and he genuinely doesn't mind talking with you, so why not keep streaming together?

you guys start to call and stream together often and everyone notices how xiao tends to talk more when it's with you. you both even have each other's merch and donate to one another, usually you sending cheesy jokes and funny messages while he gives you money because he knows you desperately want a character in a game. (cough cough genshin be like) he also begins saying things you say and doing things you do as a habit of being around you so much. for example, xiao starts to do a tiny salute at the end of his streams like you do at the end of yours. sure, his salute might not have a bright smile going along with it but when your fans start to notice they think it's the cutest thing ever.

you also start doing things like that too! you don't even realize it yourself but when you react to something random (like a video) you comment on the questionable parts of it in the most deadpan voice ever. of course at the end of it you start laughing, but your viewers can tell it's from xiao unintentionally roasting criticizing some things he sees while streaming with you. (bonus: he doesn't know if it's cruel or cute on how you try to imitate his voice.)

maybe some day you guys will have a meet up in real life instead of 2 AM calls or hours long streams, but that's up for the two of you to decide.

xiao wants to escape his destiny. he doesn't particularly like the idea of love or being entitled to someone from a decision not made by himself. he refuses to acknowledge the timer on his wrist, counting down the days until he meets his soulmate.

yet xiao doesn't take any steps towards you. he merely watches over you (and uses the phrase "adepti duties" as an excuse) and responds when you call, but never takes action himself. he fears that if he gets too attached you'll disappear just like that, so he acts as if he doesn't return your feelings. after all if you two do break away, he wants to keep the pain to himself and get the weight off of your shoulders. it's only fair for him to do that, right?

but you don't relent. even as xiao pushes you away with the mindset that it'd be better for you both in the long run you keep going. you want to prove that sure, the soulmate timer brought you two together but you genuinely love him for who he is. you did sense him watching over you when you ended up walking around at night and it made you feel safe. with someone else you would've felt uncomfortable but with xiao, you felt relieved. he could use the adeptus excuse all he wants but you're glad you have someone to rely on at times where you don't even rely on yourself.

xiao finally gives in when he finds you standing on the wangshuu inn balcony, not taking any shelter despite the rain that has been pouring for the past few hours. before he can lecture you for practically handing yourself a cold you tell him you'll wait. you'll wait weeks and months and years for xiao, as long as it takes for him to decide whether he officially wants you to leave him alone or to stay together.

when he finally realizes that yes, he does love you and doesn't want to lose you, he asks why. why would you be so patient with him? why would you wait even after he has pushed you away?

you almost immediately respond with "because i know you would do the same for me."
