An unknown glaring light shined on my eyes, stirring me into wakefulness. I groaned as I sat up from a bed. A quick scan around the area told me that I have awoken in my room. The sun was already up. I checked my clock to see the time displayed as 8:28 am.

"Crap I'm late!" I exclaimed as I scrambled out of my bed, only to have my foot get tangled in the sheets and I ungracefully fell off my bed with a thump.

"Oww!" I rubbed my head that hit the ground after that fall.

I tried my best to writhe my feet out of this tangled mess. The blanket eventually came off and I was able to get up on my feet. Just as I was about to rush to my drawers, someone poofed into my room out of thin air.

"You're awake!" The person exclaimed right as he appeared in front of me.

I was taken by surprise by his sudden Houdini-like entrance that I screamed and fell back on my bed.

"Oops! Sorry about that. I heard a thud from outside. I thought you fell off your bed or something," he said.

Yes, you Houdini reincarnate of an orphan who magically poofed into my room. I did fall off my bed. I wonder what gave it away?

I sat up on my bed, still processing what had just happened. "You... how did you- how?!"

What he answered was something I did not expect. "Simple. I'm a vampire with teleportation abilities," when he saw that I was utterly shocked, he added in a meek voice, "I thought you already knew about us."

I was clearly not having it. "Pfft! Hold up! You're telling me you're a vampire and you have teleportation powers?" I asked and the guy just nodded.

My fingers pinched the bridge of my nose as I tried to absorb as much as I can to try and make sense of it all. "You have witnessed a vampire attack before," when the guy said those words, I looked at him. He took it as a sign to continue, "It was actually last night. If Jake-hyung and I didn't get to you in time, you wouldn't be here right now."

Last night. At that phrase, everything came rushing back to me. I was able to recall every detail from that night: the blackout, that Heeseung guy who is apparently a bloodthirsty vampire, Jake telling me to run, everything. It replayed in my head like a movie.

So... The local legends were true?

I was pretty sure I was in a daze because the teleporting guy snapped his fingers in front of me. It brought me out of my stupor. Actually, now that I was able to recall last night's events, this guy seemed very familiar. Then, it just clicked.

"Wait," I began as I pointed at him, "you're the guy that pulled Heeseung away from me! You're also the guy I bumped into in the dark hallway!"

The guy's eyes squinted as he smiled when he knew I remembered him. "Yep! I'm that guy. By the way, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Yang Jungwon. Nice to meet you, Jang Yuna."

My eyes widened in surprise when he said my full name. "How did you know my name?"

"Jake-hyung asked me to check up on you right after you fell unconscious. He wished he was the one looking after you instead though," Jungwon replied honestly.

What he said reminded of what I saw before I fainted. It was unclear but I swear I saw and heard Jake as he knelt next to me on the ground. He looked like he's in pretty bad shape after blocking that bloodthirsty vampire's way.

I was starting to feel worried. "Where's Jake? What happened to him?"

"He's currently in the medical wing," Jungwon then extended his hand to me, "I can take you there."
