Chapter 1

Elaine POV

"I know it's late in the year, but we have a new student" the teacher said snapping me out of my trance

A boy with gelled black hair walked in the classroom

"Hey I'm John, I look forward to meeting you all" he said

"You can go sit in that empty seat next to Blyke" the teacher said pointing at Blyke

"Okay" John said

I watched him walk to his desk.. he was hot.

John POV

First class done I thought as I packed my bag, to go to my next class which was.. I looked at my paper.. math. I was zipping my bag when a super cute blue haired girl came up to me.

"Hello my name is Elaine, how has your first day been" she asked

"Hi Elaine, I'm John and it's been pretty good so far" I said

"Good, where did you transfer from" she asked

"New Bostin High School" I said

"Why did you switch to Wellston" she asked

Images of Claire and Adrion bloodied and beaten flashed in my mind

I just shrugged

"Felt like a change" she asked

"Yeah I guess" I said

"That's cool" she said

Her face changed into a more distorted smile

"So John, what's your ability" she asked

All the eyes in the class turned to face me.

"Four questions" I muttered

"What was that?" She asked

"Nothing" I said

"Okay, so what is your ability?" She asked again

"It's called aura manipulation" I said

"What's that?" She asked

"Basically I can copy and amplify other people's ability" I said

"That's so cool!" she said

"What's your level" A magenta haired girl asked me

"Well I haven't gotten it checked in two years, so I don't know" I said

"What was it two years ago" the boy the teacher said was named Blyke asked

"Uhh 8.0" I said nonchalantly (yes I powered him up)

The class was silent

"S-So are you going to become king" Elaine asked me

"Nah" I said

"Why not" she asked

I looked at the teacher and she just shrugged

"Uhh Personal Reasons" I said

"Oh okay" Elaine said

Everyone went back to what they were doing

"Hey John" Elaine asked

"Yeah?" I said

"Do you have math next period" she asked

"Yep" I said

"I do to, would you like to walk with me" she asked

"Sure" I said

The next day

Arlo POV

I was walking down the hallway when Holden ran up to me

"Holden, you okay" I asked

"Yeah, but I have news" he said

"Okay, what is it" I asked him

"Apparently yesterday a boy transfered here and he's stronger than you and Seraphina" Holden said

I laughed "Good one Holden" I laughed

"I'm not joking" he said

"What's this kid's name" I asked him

"He is a third year named John" Holden said

"Okay then, shall we go talk to John" I said to Holden

Elaine POV

Me and John were sitting in the library waiting for our free period to end

"Hey John, wanna go to the mall with me after school today" I said

"Sure" he said

John POV

Maybe she won't be as bad at the mall as Claire

Elaine POV

"Okay then I'll meet you at the gates after school" I said with a smile

"Can we stop by apartment first" John asked

"Sure" I said

"Cool" he said

"Wait, do you not live in the dorms?" I asked

"Nope" John said

"Why not" I asked

"God-Tier privalges" John said sarcastically

I chuckled at his joke.

The door to the library swung open and Arlo followed by Holden stepped in

"It seems like Arlo found out about you". I said to John

"Seems like it" he said

Arlo walked over to us

"I take it you're John" he said

"Yep" John said not looking up from the book he was reading

"Look at the king when he talks to you" Holden said

"Why, I'm stronger than him" John said still reading

I tried to hold in my laughter, I failed.
I let out a chuckle

"Think that funny Elaine" Holden said glaring at me

"Of course she does, it was funny" Arlo said

"No it's accurate" I said

"What are you his girlfriend" Holden said in a blind rage

I blushed and looked at John who was blushing to

"N-No I'm just speaking the truth" I said

"Prove it" Arlo said

"How?" John said

"This afternoon 4:00 PM, there is a ability gauger at the mall meet us there" Arlo said

"We were already going there" I said

"Good then" Arlo said

Arlo and Holden left the library leaving me and John alone in the library

I looked at John, who had put the book he was reading down. We were both blushing a storm. We looked at each other for a while

I was going to speak, but the bell rang.

"Time to go to class" John said

"Yeah" I said

"Thank you for standing up for me" John said blushing even more

"Yeah, anytime" I said making us both blush even more
