Chapter 20; Quentin's Obsession

A/N: Hi all!! Since this is a continuation of the last part, Psyche's wearing the same outfit as the last chapter.
ALSO- Yes, Diana from the last chapter is Wonder Woman!! You may be wondering how the Justice League exists in this universe, this chapter might explain if you pay attention.

Warning: Quentin Beck will be shown stalking Psyche basically. And he's hinted at being Yandere. This chapter is darker compared to the others, but I promise this book won't be all angst!

Diana's POV

There was a tense atmosphere around the 4 of us. Psyche looked nervous and was staring at her hands, Natasha had her hand on Psyche's back as if to comfort her, and Wanda gazed at me questioningly with her elbow on the table and her chin resting in her palm.

"I thought Tony had sent ALL the Justice League back to their universe through his universe travel machine thingy-ma-jig" Wanda said out loud.

I smiled as she seemed to forget of the machine we so often used to navigate back and forth between our universe and theirs.

"Macrocosm shifter Wanda, it's called a macrocosm shifter" I gently said, and she nodded.

Psyche looked up, "You aren't from this universe?" she asked curiously.

I shook my head, "We met at the annual heroes association party, remember?", she nodded and I continued.

"You probably also remember that I'm part of the Justice League"

She nodded at this too, "We didn't have much chance to talk other than get acquaintanced, what exactly is the Justice League?".

"Well, we're like... the Avengers but in our universe. We protect our world basically. We often travel to your universe, and we came a few weeks ago for the annual heroes association party, just to check all was well in this universe, and to tell you guys how ours was doing."

Psyche seemed satisfied with this answer and leaned back in her seat. 

"We go over to their universe and other ones sometimes too... it's pretty complicated but Tony makes it work" Natasha added.

"Mhm," I hummed, "We went back the day after the party actually," I said in response to Wanda's previous question.

"So how come you returned so soon?" Natasha pried.

"We got some information in our universe that might be a threat to you".

Psyche sat up, no longer as a cute, sweet girl on a day out, but as an inquisitive, clever, and sleuth like SHIELD agent.

"What is it, aliens, androids... wizards?" she asked, reducing her volume to a whisper.

"It's not a threat to your world, it's a threat to you, Ms. Delvaux" I told her, not missing the way all three of them tensed at the same time, and Natasha wrapped her arm protectively around her mate.

"What is it?" Psyche inquired bravely.

I sighed and sat up tall, my eyes never leaving the beautiful blue eyed witch who I wanted to wrap up in a blanket and hand a cup of hot cocoa before telling her the news.

"It has to do with a Quentin Beck".

Quentin's POV

My eyes never leaving the monitor in front of me which showed the said girl sitting with Natasha, Wanda and Diana in the McDonalds at Manhattan Mall. I had conveniently hacked into the security camera facing their seats.

I gritted my teeth as the so called 'Wonder Woman' spoke my name.

"It has to do with a Quentin Beck" she had said after telling Psyche that I was a 'threat' to her. What rubbish. I would never hurt her. I'd just hurt the people who stop me from being with her. C'est la vie.

I narrowed my eyes at the computer monitor, and leaned closer to hear their conversation more clearly. I even chose to jot everything they said down in my notebook in script form, because why not? Every word Psyche utters is precious. (A/N: Lmaooo me being lazy to write dialogue with a plot so I made an excuse to write it in script)

Psyche: Quentin? He's an unsettling guy I suppose.

Diana: That's putting it too lightly, what exactly did he say to you that has you unnerved?

Wanda: You don't have to say, Sikes.

Psyche: No, it's okay.

Psyche: The Avengers hosted a party yesterday night.

Diana: Yes, I am aware.

Psyche: Quentin approached me at it, and he introduced himself. It was quite innocent at first, then he commented on my soulmarks.

Diana: What did he say?

Psyche:  He said that they were 'interesting' and asked if I ever planned on accepting my mates. I told him I did.

Natasha: He had some nerve. It isn't hard to tell who her mates were, you could see Steve's shield, my Black Widow logo, even Tony's arc reactor.

Psyche: Well, it took me a while to figure out that you guys were my mates as well. I thought that the very obvious ones were linked to people close to the Avengers. It wasn't that which proved he knew for sure who my mates were.

Natasha: Okay, we can justify that maybe he somehow didn't know who the symbols belonged to. But what he said next...

Psyche: Confirmed that he knew.

Diana: And that was...?

Psyche: "The Avengers are so lucky to have you honey".

Diana: I mean I guess they are... you're a very attractive woman.

Wanda: Psyche did take it as a compliment though.

Natasha: Yea, but it's kind of creepy to say that to someone you just met.

Psyche: Yea... and then the trouble began. He talked about how he had no soulmarks.

Diana: Getting personal now... I see.

Psyche: And then 'joked' about how the Avengers had each other for mates and wouldn't mind if he took me as his own... and he also said in 'good humor' that he might have to kidnap.

Wanda: We would mind. A lot.

Natasha: Mhm, all of us were just silent when he said that. 

Diana: Sounds like a guy with a terrible sense of humor.

Natasha: He could've been just that, but Quentin has a terrible track record with SHIELD. We can't prove anything we want to accuse him of, but he's a shady guy.

Psyche: His files are very suspicious to say the least...

At that moment the computer monitor went static and I slammed my hands on the table, agitated at the interruption. With a sigh I leaned back in my seat, eyeing the small, rough sketch I had made of Psyche in the corner of my notebook.

"We'll be seeing each other quite often Ms. Delvaux".
