The mistakes that your parents do, you should learn from them
My step dad says "if you and your sister don't listen to us when we teach you things about the world then the world will teach you brutally and without mercy, they will stomp on you like you're a nothing"

Your parents have been in your age
Have experienced things that you are going through right now

It's their job to teach you about the world and it's dark side and your responsibility to learn them since it'll benefit you of course

Don't repeat the same mistakes your parents do
Learn from them and be aware
