The group continued deeper into the building, still looking for the place where the alien's leader, and probably also Reef, could be staying.

"Despite its looks on the outside, the inside of this place seems like it just never ends!" Alois exclaimed.

"Do you think that the building is being manipulated into some sort of labyrinth?" asked Leah.

"Probably," Alois shrugged.

"Wait, I have an idea. Leah, make an omnidirectional blast of mana. I'll use it as a form of x-ray to see what it interacts with," Ozin suggested.

"Alright. Zeref, go into your cosmic form for a second," Leah warned.

As soon as he did, Leah sent a blast of green mana in all directions. It fazed through all of the walls and out of sight, going on until it eventually dissipated.

Ozin pulled out a tracker, or some sort of similar device, and shouted "There!", as he began to lead the group through corridors and hidden doors.

They continued down the endless twists and turns of the building, making sure to keep the president safe from any loose boards of crumbly ceilings. All was well until they felt a slight rumble underneath their feet.

" Does anybody else feel that?" Dannon squeaked.

"It feels like footsteps," Zeref said, "really big footsteps."

The next thing that they knew, a giant, six armed alien turned the corner and started charging towards them.

"I got this!" Leah yelled. "Zeref, shoot me with a blast of cosmic energy!"

"Bu-"

"Just do it already!"

Zeref complied, and Leah was stunned for a fraction of a second, but she seemed otherwise fine.

"CHARGE!" she yelled. She slammed her hands on the ground, and summoned two metal golems. On Leah's command, the golems stood at attention and attempted to apprehend the alien. The golems grappled with the alien for a while, until first golem had its head crushed by one of the alien's hands, the other golem managed to get the jump on the alien as it was distracted with the other golem and managed to subdue the alien while they ran as far away as they could, unsure how long the golem could hold the alien down.

""I-I think we shook them off," Wenner wheezed.

"That was amazing!" Alois exclaimed, "When did you learn how to make golems?"

"We can talk about that later," Zeref said, "I see something that looks like the main room of this building."

The president seemed proud. "All of you did a splendid job," he said, "we should be able to leave pretty soon and this entire situation will be in the past."

They walked up to the door, anticipating the end of this evasion, but when they opened the door, their hopes were replaced with fear. One of the important leaders of the aliens was sitting by the office desk at the center of the room, and he was dead. Very much dead. Everybody was quiet for a few seconds.

"What happened here?!" Leah whispered.

Nobody knew what to do. The leader in front of them was dead, they couldn't discuss anything. The invasion would continue and both sides would be madder than ever. This little situation that they thought they could squash could erupt into a full scale war.

That wasn't the only problem though. As soon as Zeref walked into the room, a faint, but familiar burning sensation erupted at the base of his neck, creeping along the edges of his skull and in the grooves of his brain. "There are more important things that we need to be doing," Zeref thought, "I'll ignore it for now."
