After Zeref received his trophy, he headed up to his dormitory. Since he had a major vulnerability to magic, he wasn't allowed near his peers outside of school activities. So Leah, Wenner, and he decided to have a virtual celebration instead.
Zeref flopped onto his bed and flicked open his watch and out popped Leah and Wenner in a live message.
"Heya Z!" Leah yelled. "Hey Zeref," whimpered Wenner.
"Congrats on winnin' that maze!"
"Thanks, Leah," Zeref said happily.
"So what was even in there?"
"Wait, wouldn't you know what's in there? You've been accepted already."
"W-well, they change the test every year so we wouldn't know," Wenner stuttered.
"There were regular weak demons, some weird wall-hand and..." Zeref trailed off as he remembered what he saw in his fight with the shapeshifter. "That was about it, well, of course, that doesn't include the metal blades flying out of the walls, you've seen that."
He decided not to tell them about the archangel he saw, because he didn't really know what it meant, but he knew it probably wasn't good. Pushing the thought out of his mind, he continued to chat with Leah and Wenner.
"So, where are ya planning to put that trophy? What is it, like, 4 feet tall?"
"I don't really know. Maybe on my-"
Zeref was cut off by what felt like a short earthquake.
"Woah!" said Leah, shocked. "Did you feel that?!"
"Yeah, I felt it. What do you thi-" Zeref sighed as he was interrupted again, this time by an emergency announcement.
"THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT.
THERE HAS BEEN A CATEGORY SIX ATTACK ON THIS SCHOOL.
ALL HIGH UPPERCLASSMEN REPORT TO THE SCHOOL ENTRANCE.
LOWER UPPERCLASSMEN AND LESSER EVACUATE TO YOUR ROOMS AND REMAIN THERE UNTIL AN ANNOUNCEMENT SAYS IT IS SAFE TO EXIT."
"Uh, Leah, Wenner, what's a category six attack?" Zeref asked.
"A c-category six attack is when there is an s-strong outside threat attacking the school with backup," Wenner replied.
"So do ya'll want to go look or what?!" Leah yelled.
"Didn't they tell us to stay in our room though?" Zeref questioned.
"We'll be fine," Leah said. "There are great hiding spots all around the school so we can watch."
Even though Zeref was apprehensive about breaching the announcement's rules, he wasn't completely opposed to the idea. With how gifted he was told he was, he was confident in his abilities and wanted a method to validate his worth. It would be a waste for him to pass up an opportunity to, say, beat a couple of guys in front of the whole school. Maybe he'd even get to move up a grade a bit early.
"Ok, Leah, I'm with you," Zeref said. "Do you know any good hiding spots by the entrance?"
"Of course! There are plenty, you know, with all of the decor in front of the school."
"Great, I'll meet you there."
Zeref grabbed his sword and put on his magus repellium armor, just in case, and headed off to the school entrance.
