I stared at the man's body that lay several feet away from me. My heart sped up and my body shook even more. "Wh-who.....who are you?" I whispered.
"Iris, silly," she giggled tossing blonde hair over her shoulder. "We better get going before they catch up to us. I only got four left." She waved the gun in the air. I nodded with my breath shaking and followed her. After a few hours Iris stopped walking. "Welp! This is it!" I looked around and saw nothing but forest. Is she mad? Wait, scratch that; I don't want that answered. Iris walked up to a massive tree. She turned to look back and smiled. Then, as if she was a ghost, she walked through the tree. What the heck.... I walked up to the tree myself and put out one hand to the trunk. It went through. I quickly snatched my hand back. Then inspected it to make sure it was still there. Taking in a deep breath I started to walk through the tree. Once at the other side my eyes widened. What I saw was beautiful. Laid out before me was a city. A city made of glass. The city stretched out farther than my eyes could see. People on the streets went about doing things, but they weren't like the melancholy people out on the streets that I normally saw. These people were happy. "Pretty huh," Iris whispered into my ear and I jumped. My nerves calmed down and I nodded looking back at the city with wonder filled eyes. I sat down on a nearby rock and Iris followed soon after. "Zeaia," she said.
"What?"I ask.
"That's its name."
"Even the name is beautiful."
Iris smiled and nodded her head. I turned around to look back at the city. A few minutes later, I felt a weight on my shoulder. My head turned to see Iris sleeping on me. Then I remembered that Iris too must be very tiered after all what she did for me. I'll have to thank her later. Iris, when she is sleeping, looks like any other girl. Since I was too occupied with being scared half to death by her I hadn't noticed how beautiful she actually was. In the moonlight her pale skin practically glowed. Her hair, that was so blonde it almost looked white, fell over her face. I pushed back the hair and tucked it behind her ear. For some reason I wanted to know more about the person on my shoulder, and of what connection we had in my messed up past. I looked up at the sky and stared at the stars. Then this melody came into my head. I don't know what it was but it seemed so nostalgic. Almost as though you try to remember a face of a person from a memory. You can see their eyes, but everything else is fuzzy. Almost as if I couldn't control it, I started to sing the melody. A humming sound came from my right. It was Iris humming too. She moved her head and used my lap as a pillow. Then she started to sing the words.Forget me not
Even if the world might fall apart
And the thought of a future is naught
As long as there is breath in these old dusty lungs
I shall forget you notMiss me not
For what I give you as a farewell gift
A kiss, an iris, and this melody filled with thought
So no tears will be of sorrow when we part
Miss me notEven though we might not meet again
Always remember to look up at night
Look at wear the stars reign
Know we share the same stars
That way you will forget me not
I closed my eyes concentrating on the words she sang and let it carry me to sleep.
