Thorn flew through the city with her cloaking spell, not wanting to attract any attention. However, it was the dead of night on the east side of town and not much was going on. She finally lowered onto a rooftop with a soft thud and took in her surroundings, not wanting to be surprised anymore.
Witch Hunters were a nuisance already and adding ninjas to the list wasn't helpful. She kept to her task and found a good place to stake out for a second from a building across from the old factory. Looking out, she could see some small movement but from what she gathered there may be a few more inside.
She lifted her hands and began to cast a spell, gently spinning together a web out of magic. Searching for a spider in the building to sense through. In the deepest corner, she connected to one, seeing with them the entire operation. Thorn felt the vibration of about 30 men marching around either sitting at a table or moving around and just a few on guard. The spider lowered from the ceiling corner and Thorn saw them shuffle through various papers.
Thorn let out a deep sigh of frustration as she let go of the connection and ruffled her hair. She knew there would be a lot to get through but she didn't expect to be found by the ninjas so quickly and then have to fight again.
She would be lying if she said she didn't enjoy it just a bit. For once being taken seriously instead of some fragile daughter. She has been so protected and has held back her magic for the last month it was amazing to finally just let go. However, in all of it, she didn't want to fight her brother but she was left with no choice.
If only they actually saw the whole picture, the whole story. But it felt like every time Thorn tries to explain herself she gets shut down. If she were a ninja they would have listened to her.
Her mind began to wander back to that time before everything was so complicated. Back to when she played with her grandparents and those summer nights when they would catch the fireflies.
She misses her grandparents. She misses her Grandma Suki. She misses how they never looked at her with fear, only with love. Thorn was so lost in the thought that she almost missed the sound of rocks being stepped on behind her.
Quickly snapping into action, Thorn cast a web and shot it out towards the sound and caught a foot. As soon as she felt her magic catch grip, she flung whatever was behind her to the shed and quickly kept it trapped in her magic web.
"Who are you!" Thorn demanded as she walked to whatever fly she caught with her thorny vine up like a sword in her hand.
"Woah woah woah, dude, chill it's me!" The guy pleaded.
Thorn finally saw what she caught. The guy had dark jeans and a black hoodie that hid his face. Thorn cast the hood down and saw Cole who was in equal shock.
"Cole?" Thorn said, in genuine shock as her thorny vines slipped away.
"Uh, hey Thorn," Cole returned, "Is this a spider web?"
"What are you doing here?" Thorn questioned angrily.
"Well, I can say the same to you." Cole countered, "and is this all magic? What happened to the thorns?"
Thorn cupped her face in her hands and silently screamed into them in frustration, "I just can't get rid of you ninjas can I?"
"Technically, I didn't come in my ninja gi so I am in civilian mode right now," Color reassured.
"Oh really?" Thorn said sarcastically as she crossed her arms.
