Katsuki's POV
Shadow was a lost cause, I needed to have her arrested, she was a bad person.A really fucking bad person.
I tried, but there's no changing people like that.
—
I was definitely right when I assumed Shadow was working for the League of Villains, because when I arrived at the scene to help Kirishima, there she was, bow drawn, right behind that damned ash-maker from the league.
It was another hero agency, this time it was on the rooftops of Grand's, but Grand himself wasn't anywhere to be seen.
There was a lot of villains there, but a lot of them were just shitty weaklings that I had never heard of nor seen before.
She hardly acknowledged that I was there, apart from a mocking wave as a single explosion went off beneath us.
Tch. Fucking idiot.
Kirishima sent his sidekicks down to rescue any employees that were still inside, though there had been an order to evacuate before, so hopefully if they had fucking listened, everyone would've made it out.
She's like this because she was told she couldn't be a hero without a quirk? Fucking pathetic.
It wasn't until I had finished up with the guys on my side that I ran at Dabi and Shadow, but right as I did, I saw her eyes widen in the direction of Kirishima as she quickly changed the direction of her arrow and released towards him.
What the FUCK?
I lurched forwards, "OH, NO YOU DON'T, YOU SHITTY VILLAIN!"
Shadow quickly turned to face me, eyes wide, as I braced myself to attack her, but Dabi pushed her out of the way, sending his stupid ass blue flames in my direction, forcing me to jump out of the way.
Then I heard her voice yell, "DABI, STOP!"
He stopped and muttered something that I didn't hear, before yanking her up from the ground, "you can't just kill our guys, Shadow, that wasn't what we agreed on."
"I told you, Red Riot is a part of the damned deal now, and that guy was disposable. Just shut up and focus."
"Tch. I should've just let your precious little hero boyfriend kill you."
She rolled her eyes and pulled another arrow back, "I said shut the fuck up and focus."
I turned to Kirishima, and there I saw one of the weaklings that I'd never heard of laying dead on the ground with one of Shadow's arrow's through his neck.
She didn't shoot Kirishima, she saved him.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a stopwatch timer go off. I turned back to Shadow who had just pulled a grenade out of her utility belt.
"Hey, heroes, catch!"
She pulled the pin and dashed the grenade, forcing us to get the hell out of the way, rendering us unable to capture her as she escaped with the rest of the villains.
And as soon as we had gotten off of the building, the entire building exploded from the inside.
—
I met Shadow when she finished work at the same place I had dropped her when she was putting away her bow and costume.
She didn't speak a word to me as she placed the helmet over her head and jumped onto the back of my bike.
Before we got home, I stopped by an alleyway and got off my bike.
She pulled off her helmet and asked, "what?"
"What deal was that damned ash-maker talking about?"
She rolled her eyes and put the helmet back on, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"You said that Kirishima was a part of some deal."
"Doesn't ring a bell, sorry."
I leaned against the wall with my arms crossed, "I could do this all night."
After a few moments she sighed and took off her helmet, placing it on the bike and walking off into the dark alleyway alone.
"Where the fuck are you going?"
"I don't owe you answers to anything."
"Uh- yeah, you do. I could've easily turned you in so many times, but I haven't."
She kept walking as she hummed, "and I could've had your house raided by villains who have it out for you and Kirishima, but I haven't."
"Tch," I took off my helmet and chased after her, "and why the fuck do you keep destroying hero agencies? What good does that do you?"
She sighed, "don't worry, yours won't be attacked- neither will Kirishima's, consider it a 'thank you' for giving me a place to stay."
"Or you could just stop fucking murdering people, you fucking psycho."
"You murdered my boss."
"Your boss was a threat to society, he put millions of people at risk- you're murdering the innocent."
She stopped walking but kept looking straight ahead, shrugging, "I'm doing my job."
"Go and work in a fucking coffee shop, deliver the post, work in an office, get a job as a personal fucking trainer- you don't need to murder people."
"You're asking me to give up my well-paid job to work a nine to five in a coffee shop, earning minimum wage?"
I took a moment to think before replying, "Kirishima and I will lower your rent."
She scoffed, "rent isn't the problem, I have other financial commitments, no thanks to your people."
She muttered that last part.
"What?"
"Nothing. I'm not downgrading my job. If the guilt of me living with you is eating you up so much, I'll move out."
I rolled my eyes, "you're so pathetic, you know that? Someone made you sad when you were in middle school, so now you run around stabbing people in the throat. Fuck a new job, you need therapy."
And then she just started laughing.
"The fuck is so funny?"
She wiped under her eyes, trying to control her breathing as she calmed down, "damn, you really do think the whole world revolves around you, don't you?"
I gave her a deadpan expression and she continued, "you think this is about middle school? Obviously not."
"So what's it about then?"
She smirked, raising an eyebrow, "oh? You want to hear the whole 'tragic backstory'?"
I rolled my eyes, "just get on with it."
She shrugged and kept walking, nodding for me to walk with her, "there was obviously the whole thing about me not being able to become a hero because of quirks and whatever- well, my lack thereof."
She kept her eyes locked to the ground as she began to explain, "but then there was five years ago, back when Endeavour retired."
