A week had gone by since Dean told everyone about John's deal with Crowley. A week of nothing from John, not a word from Crowley, and no ideas about how to properly deal with the situation. Everyone agreed John had to be stopped. Everyone also agreed they shouldn't make deals with Crowley to do it. They were at a stand still. Dean was getting anxious, but he made a promise to Cas that he wouldn't do anything reckless.
Dean had one more day of work before another day off. He needed to talk to Bobby and Sam and get a solid plan together. He had been careful not to talk to Sam about it while out hunting or patrolling, in case John happened to somehow be listening in. They needed to get together and go somewhere far away from the wall, somewhere John wouldn't be able to eavesdrop and figure out their plan.
Since he hadn't been sleeping much, Dean laid awake in bed for a couple hours as Cas snored with his head on Dean's chest. Dean kept thinking about John, about how to get rid of him. The light of morning poured through the window, but Dean had been awake since the sun had just started rising. He didn't want to wake Cas, so he just laid there, sometimes watching Cas, sometimes staring at the ceiling. He couldn't fall back asleep as much as he tried, too many thoughts racing through his head.
Not long after Dean heard Sam and Jack moving around outside the bedroom door, Cas started to stir as well. He was the most adorable thing in the mornings, especially while in the process of waking up. Dean watched him with a small smile, running fingers through Cas' messy hair. "Mornin' sunshine," Dean said softly.
Cas groaned sleepily, crawling on top of Dean to trap him in bed under his weight. Dean didn't have many complaints. "How long have you been awake?" Cas wondered, dragging lazy kisses over Dean's jaw in between his accusatory words. "Did you sleep at all?" Unfortunately, Cas had noticed Dean's change in sleeping patterns lately and was even more worried than usual about Dean's well being.
"A few hours," Dean lied, hoping to sound convincing. Cas was still half asleep, so he didn't catch on. Dean really only slept about two hours off and on, but he was fine. He was used to this. "I'm fine," he promised, kissing the top of Cas' head as he wrapped his arms around Cas' waist and squeezed him in a tight hug. "Time to get up."
"Five more minutes," Cas grumbled, burying his face in Dean's neck with a sigh. Dean rolled his eyes, but let Cas hold on to him just a little longer, rubbing his back with one hand, the other gently carding through Cas' hair. Eventually, Sam came pounding on the door yelling about breakfast and being late to work. Cas grunted unhappily in response, but didn't refuse when Dean nudged him off to get out of bed.
"Jo's off today, so she's going to come to work with you and Charlie," Dean said as he started getting dressed. He pulled jeans over his legs and found a shirt Cas hadn't already stolen, turning to face the angel as he pulled it over his head. Cas smiled softly from where he laid in bed, his head still squished adorably against Dean's pillow. Dean blushed under his gaze, licking his lips. "What?"
"Admiring you," Cas mumbled, making no move to get out of bed. "You're very handsome, Dean."
Dean's face was even redder if that was possible. "Shut it, you sap," Dean laughed, rolling his eyes. "And get out of bed."
Cas smirked. "Could I convince you to come back to bed instead?"
"Oh, so easily," Dean admitted shamelessly, leaning down to give Cas a lingering kiss, slipping his tongue past Cas' lips just to tease him a little. He pulled away before either of them could get too carried away. "If we don't get out there in the next five minutes, Sam's going to bust down the door and see something that will scar him for life."
"That would be his own fault," Cas rumbled, grabbing the front of Dean's shirt to pull him in for another hard kiss. Dean stumbled closer to the bed, almost falling on top of Cas before he steadied himself with a hand on Cas' shoulder. Reluctantly, Dean pulled away and sighed, resting his forehead against Cas'. "Is this your way of telling me no?" Cas wondered, innocently.
