"I'm going to change." Draco told her, walking over to a dresser by the bathroom door, extracting a t-shirt and sweats.
Ashley turned from him as the bathroom door shut, taking a closer look at his room. His bed spread was intricately hemmed with golden thread, swirling on the edge of the duvet and pillow cases. She sat on it, sinking into the soft feather mattress. The crisp change of bedding made a slight cracking noise as she lay across it, hugging the pillows closer to her. She was more than exhausted, but the excitement of the night made her feel like she could go on for a few more hours. Closing her aching eyes, she concentrated on the sound of Draco's movements in the bathroom. Her chest rose and fell with deep breaths, letting herself relax completely, dreading the moment when she would have to drag herself all the way back to the Gryffindor Common Room.
"Ash." He whispered softly, his weight shifting the bed.
She turned her head to see Draco holding another pair of clothes.
"O-only if you want to, though." Draco stammered quickly. He felt stupid immediately for assuming she would want to stay with him.
Ashley pushed herself up into a sitting position, taking the clothes from him as she smiled at his worried face.
"I know these aren't girls' clothes," He flushed harder, "but, you probably shouldn't get your dress wrinkled."
She smiled as his thoughtfulness. Sliding off the bed, she went to the bathroom and changed quickly, shaking out the wrinkles of the dress. Resting the earrings on top of the silky pile, she walked out and laid it across Draco's couch in front of the fire. She felt slightly silly in the large cotton t-shirt and black sweats.
Draco smiled at her; she looked beautiful, even in the drabbest of clothing. His clothes looked too big for her, hanging off of her shoulders and arms, but noticed the stress of the material across her chest. Heat rose in his face and neck as he averted his eyes elsewhere.
Boldly, she ran over to the other side of the bed and jumped in, climbing under the sheets, the feather duvet wrapping her in softness. She smiled sleepily at Draco, closing her eyes. He pulled the sheets over him and scooted his pillow next to hers. The moonlight highlighted her face, her high cheekbones glittered from her makeup and her hair was nearly invisible against the whiteness of the pillowcase.
He rested his hand on the side of her head, stroking the soft strands of her hair. He had never felt hair so soft and couldn't keep his fingers out of it. Ashley opened her eyes, giving him a small smile. He moved his body close to her, feeling her breasts against his chest, her lean legs intertwining with his. He rested his nose at her crown, taking in the wonderful smell of vanilla, wishing that moment would last forever.
His heart pounded, his stomach lurching at the sensations of her. He realized, as he started to feel slightly ill, that he was falling for her.
"You mean, make her love me?" He remembered choking on the word just months ago.
"Do what you have to." His father retorted, "Just befriend her, then reel her in."
An overwhelming sense of the need to protect her took hold of him as wrapped her in his arms.
"I'm going to protect you." He voiced, reassuring himself more than her.
"What?" She frowned against him, moving her head to look in his eyes. He regretted the words, not sure of how to explain himself.
"I just want you to know." He recovered quickly, "I'm here for you."
