An Unexpected Feeling (A Sequel to The Heroic Family; Shadow BOOM! x OC)

Chapter 1: Runa's Vision

It's been a few months since Runa the Hedgehog became part of Team Sonic and her life was changed forever. They worked together to fight Dr. Eggman and his robots to restore peace and harmony. She even received a new house from the mayor due to the fact that she's now living in Hedgehog Village.

One night, when everyone was asleep, Runa had a vision and it's not what she expected.

Runa was in a dark room having a blank expression on the outside, but on the inside, she felt a little... lonely. She walked through it looking for someone that can lead her to the light.

"Hello?!" she called out looking around. "Amy?! Tails?! Sonic?! Anyone?!"

After a while of looking around, Runa looked down and sighed,"Guess there's no one, who can lead me to the light."

With that being said, Runa continued walking through the dark room trying to find a light all by herself and at the same time, she's looking for her friends or possibly someone, who can lead her to the light.

Suddenly, Runa saw some sort of black hedgehog leaning on a rock. She couldn't see what he looks like, for it's too dark for her to see. She tried to narrow her eyes to see him completely, but unfortunately, no luck.

Before Runa even got a chance to say "hi," his head turned to her for a moment, then, he disappeared. He appeared again behind her and teleported her outside the dark room where daylight, grasses, trees, etc. are present.

Runa was shocked that he took her outside the dark room with teleportation. Now, she felt like she wanted to get to know him. She turned to face him finally getting a chance to look at his features. He's a black hedgehog with crimson red stripes, his matching eyes and white furry chest. He wore white gloves, black cuffs with red tongue-like cuffs on each of them — those two cuffs are on each glove — golden rings and even white, red and black hover shoes with golden rings larger than the ones on his gloves. Each hover shoe has the same cuff design.

Right as he was about to walk away, Runa grabbed his arm telling him,"Wait!"

He stopped, but he was not facing her.

"I-I just wanna say thank you... for bringing me out here," she said.

He looked at her slightly facing her. A few moments later, he yanked his arm free and walked away.

A few moments later, Runa ran to him because...

"Hey! I never caught your name yet!" she called out causing him stop walking again.

This time, his slightly turned to face her.

"It's Shadow. Shadow the Hedgehog," he said in his deep serious voice.

"Pleased to meet you, Shadow. I'm Runa," she held out her hand with a small smile. "Runa the Hedgehog."

Right in the corner of his eye, Shadow saw Runa holding out her hand to him. This time, he turned his body around facing her. He looked at her hand, then in her eyes, then back at her hand. Then, a few hesitations later, he decided to shake her hand.

As their hands slipped away from each other, Runa was the first to speak up, "Maybe we could get to know each other sometime?"

He nodded in response and as he was about to walk away, Runa asked him,"Where are you going anyway?"

In response, he said,"None of your business. But Runa, I'm sure about one thing." Then, he turned to her with his lips stretching out a smirk,"We'll meet again."

Then, he disappeared making Runa's eyes blinked herself awake. And as she did so, the one thing she said was his name.

"Shadow?"

Runa sat up on her own bed, now becoming curious about who Shadow really is. She got out of her bed and looked out the window to see the sun about to rise.

Well, it looks like I woke up a little too early, she thought to herself.

While waiting for everyone else to wake up, Runa grabbed her diary and her ballpen in her drawers beside her bed and headed towards her empty desk. There, she sat on her chair and write in her diary about what happened last night (in her vision of course), so that she wouldn't forget.

After that, Runa headed downstairs to make herself breakfast. Her adoptive father (or sometimes, her adoptive mother) taught her how to cook food before being adopted by Team Sonic. She decided to cook two pancakes for herself since she lived alone in her house, but she didn't need to worry about it because she already had a family and that is Team Sonic themselves.

When Runa's done cooking, she plated it and set up a table grabbing a simple placemat, knife, fork and of course, a plate full of two pancakes. She prepared her maple syrup and two slices of butter. Then, she washed her hands, went back to the table and began to eat them.

15 minutes later...

Runa brushed her teeth and did the rest of the morning routine. After that, she went upstairs back to her room to grab a sketchbook, pencil, eraser, a wooden thick card (she used it to keep the marker ink from spreading through the pages), and the rest of her art materials. She put them on her desk to draw a Shadow silhouette leaning his back against the rock just like what she first saw in her vision.

1 hour later (Yes, each drawing took a minimum of 1 hour)...

When she's done drawing, she decided to make another drawing, but this time, a portrait about Shadow himself.

30 minutes later...

As she continued drawing, realization hit Runa as she thought to herself, Ugh! What am I thinking? I can't just have some kind of connection with someone I just met.

Just then, another thought ran into her head, We'll meet again, Runa.

That was Shadow's voice. That's what he said in her vision before she woke up. She sighed and continued drawing him.

"I hope no one finds out about this," she said to herself while doing so.

Almost 1 hour later...

She put a finishing touch and it was amazing. She was an expert at drawing when she was little. Even before taken in by her foster family.
In her drawing, it looked like Shadow was standing there with his signature pose with a background of grasses and a blue sky. She even added a cave behind him.

She closed her sketchbook and put everything back in the drawers. Then, she decided that it was finally time to go out for a walk. She was heading downstairs when she heard a knock on the door.
