"Where's your new teammate?" asked Shadow in his usual deep and serious voice.
Everyone slowly got up and readied their battle stance.
"Shadow, what are you doing here?" asked Tails.
"Looking for this 'new member,' whom you took in a few months ago," answered Shadow.
Sticks gasped slightly and turned to the others,"He's looking for Runa!"
"You were right, Sticks," said Amy.
"What do you want with her, Shadow?" asked Sonic.
"I want to test her on myself to see if she's tough enough to challenge me," answered Shadow.
"Well, you can't find her because—" Knuckles began
"Because she's doing something important," Amy finished his sentence to avoid getting things in trouble.
But Shadow sighed in disappointment,"Fine. Then, I'll take you down myself."
As he said this, he knocked out every member of the team until Sonic remained, so that they'll face each other alone. The two battled everywhere starting with the forest, then Hedgehog Village, then the Valley of the Broken Glass. The others groaned in pain as they slowly got up. As they did, they walked fast back to the village to warn Runa and at the same time, looking around for her.
Right at the entrance hall of the Mayor's Mansion...
Runa looked at the boys, who were not the ones she expected. One including Tommy Thunder.
"I told you, Mayor. I can't date someone I just met," Runa told him.
"Trust me. Perhaps, you might start to like one of them," he said.
She sighed in defeat,"Fine, but only because you've been wanting this for a few months."
The villagers cheered in excitement.
That's when the testing begins. Runa began to choose someone, whom she would like to date, but things don't go exactly as the villagers planned. Team Sonic once told her about Tommy Thunder, but she only thought of him as a friendly acquaintance. The rest of the boys were not suitable for her. One, because they don't have the same qualities and two, they're not the ones she's been looking for. The worst bachelor out of all the boys came from a flirty and charming cat named Reuben. She's definitely not comfortable with the word "flirt," for she considered it as creepy and disgusting. But she'd never admit it because if she said it out loud, she would most likely be considered as insensitive.
"Well?" one of the villagers asked.
"Which one will be your date?" another one asked.
Runa let out a light sigh in annoyance. A few moments later, an idea popped into her head. "I choose— Aagh!!!"
She was cut off by a red blur pinning her to a wall with his right hand holding her by her throat and the other on her right arm, so that she could not escape. She looked up and was shocked to see that it was Shadow himself. Even Team Sonic heard her scream and they turned to see Shadow pinning her to a wall.
Despite being grabbed by her throat, Runa managed to get her words out. In her barely audible raspy voice. "Sh...Shadow? But... wh-why?"
Shadow slightly gasped as he heard her say his name, then a moment later, he gripped her throat tighter and asked her, "How did you know my name?"
Runa tried to speak, but with her throat being grabbed tighter, she couldn't.
"I'm asking you again, Runa. How did you know my name?" he asked her again.
Hold up, how did he know my name in reality? Was that because one of the members of Team Sonic mentioned me? she thought.
Then despite being grabbed on her throat, she managed to get those words out,"I-I'll tell you... aagh... b-but only if... y-you... put me.. down."
As she said this, Shadow immediately threw her harshly to ground. Runa cleared her throat while holding it gently to gain her voice talking.
"Now, tell me. How did you know my name?" Shadow asked her for the third time.
After she regained her voice, she answered his question, but her voice has the lowest tone you have ever heard. But her voice was only audible to Shadow and no one else. "Last night, I had a vision. I was in the dark room looking for Team Sonic. Then, I saw a shadowy figure. He saved me by teleporting me out of the dark room and into the forest. When I look around, I saw that the person who saved me is you. I thanked you, then we introduced ourselves. Then, you walked away, but not before saying that we'll meet again. Then, I woke up."
Shadow was shocked to hear the whole story while the others were asking each other what she meant. Even Team Sonic as it seemed like Runa was not acting like herself since last night and they somehow noticed it just now.
Then, he got up and spoke to Team Sonic especially their certain leader,"You did a good job taking care of her and now, it's my turn."
Everyone slightly gasped to hear that he was going to kidnap her (or so they almost thought).
"What are you gonna do with her?" asked Sonic glaring at him.
"Don't worry. I'm going to treat her just as how you treated her. I'll take her home soon, Sonic but this time, on my terms," he answered as he teleported himself and Runa to a forest in front of a familiar cave.
