When the meteor hit, all human life was blown out into the darkness of space. Luckily, governments were pre-prepared and every living person was equipped with a space suit and a time of when the meteor would hit. The space suit was just incase anything bad happened, which didn't seem likely. But the meteor was much bigger than we expected. It destroyed 67% of Earth and sent approximately 92% of people on Earth into space, leaving about 500 million people. The remaining six and a half billion people had three different possible outcomes: a new planet, stranded in space, or dead. The people who were stranded in space are most likely dead by now. It's been 4 weeks and 3 days since the disaster struck.
My name is Shaun Adams. I'm 16 years old and live on the planet of Kayuuk with my 2 friends, James and Wilson, a crazy 40 year old woman who... well I'm not sure what happened to her but she hasn't given us much information about herself, my sister Kate who is 19 and 3 brothers who lived on the other side of England from where we were. Their names are Conor, Lucas and George. Conor is 13, Lucas is 23 and George is 27. Conor was so scared when he first landed it took him several hours to start speaking again. George and Lucas are very smart and mature, but also fun. We haven't even explored a possible percentage of Kayuuk yet, so there could 100% be more life somewhere on this planet. But the 8 of us landed very close to each other, so we stay close to each other.
Wait a minute, Kayuuk isn't a planet, I thought it was Mars, Jupiter, Satu... I'm gonna stop you there. That's exactly what we thought when we first got here. Turns out the Milky Way is much larger than we thought. Kayuuk is a very strange planet. We have loads of giraffes on the planet to help us reach tall trees with blueberries or oranges on them and just move around in general. We get water from the planet itself. It sounds obvious, like where else would we get it from? But beneath the floor of Kayuuk is just... water! Literally, the planet is hollow with loads of water in it. We use wooden knives to cut into the floor and either dive in to wash, or just lick it like a dog to drink it. The problem is that it self-heals. So when washing, you need someone else to be there to cut open the floor when you need to get out. Or when drinking, you need to hold open the crack with all your strength, which sometimes someone might have to help you with. It is literally a giant bouncy castle, and really fun. The sun is also pink and the moon is dark blue. Only it isn't a sun and moon, just a colour of sky.
Kayuuk isn't all bad, if you think about it. Apart from clean clothes, education, animals, friends, family, electronics, holidays, movies, shows, video games, a bed, favourite food, a sense of time, well actually, Lucas has a half broken watch but anyway, you get the point, we miss out on a lot of stuff.
